To the many parents like me watching this....please don't feel guilty or discouraged by the angry teen/teens with attitudes question and response. If you are loving your children and doing your best, within your specific situation, I salute you. Even when children are taught self control and to be respectful from birth, it is actually quite normal and healthy development for teens to express themselves and resist your authority as they grow into their own individual person, learning to be separate from their parents. There are pros and cons to all styles of parenting. No one has the perfect approach. Yahweh is the perfect parent and yet we rebel and succumb to our humanness. Our teen son went through a time of attitude and it took lots of heart to hearts, patience and grace through it all, and he is now 19 and has grown into such a delight! It takes a lot of love and consistency as a parent to allow them to be human and not perfect, as none of us are. The key is to not take it personal. Because the prefrontal cortex is still developing, teenagers might rely on a part of the brain called the amygdala to make decisions and solve problems more than adults do. The amygdala is associated with emotions, impulses, aggression and instinctive behaviour. So please know it is very normal and they will outgrow it. Just as Kip said, the battle is not with you. Keep your relationship as the priority and when they've developed and matured, they will appreciate all you did to love them through it all. You are doing great, don't be discouraged or disheartened. We're all in this together. Love and hugs! ❤ Lisa

Esther just seems to be the sweetest and kindness young lady! I really enjoyed what Kip had to say about winning your childs heart, our boys are only 5 and 3 and this is something I work on every day to build their trust and respect them so that we are bonded and strong in our relationship. I can only hope they grow uo to be as kind and respectful as your teenagers are. Beautiful family you have, Kerry I truly enjoy listening to you chat about any and all the things. Many blessings ❤️

Parents, please do not overlook the impact of preservatives and added ingredients in food and how they can modify children's moods. Many kids are sensitive to MSG in food, as it turns into a neurotransmitter and can cause sudden angry outbursts. MSG can be added to food and listed under 80+ different names! The amount of "chemicals" in food that can affect people is staggering. One more reason to grow lot of your own food for your family.

Amen on the teen thing! We’ve had ‘issues’ but because we won their hearts young and taught them since they were babies that we are on the same team and that Satan wants to tear us apart. The teen/adult years are a pleasure when the family is all on the same team!

Ah Kip, good discussion regarding the hearts of children. My maternal grandmother Hazel had won my heart from birth. She was my babysitter and I was bonded to her, as she shared Jesus and helped me find my way. We were blessed that gram lived next door. As a teenager, I gave my mother many challenges regarding my parental parameters/ boundaries. One time I wore mom down. She caved and allowed me to go to a party I should not have attended! It frightened me and I went home early. I am turning 73 and I STILL remember what I said to her. I told her, at 16, I did not want her to be my friend, I expected her to be my MOTHER! We teenagers were just pushing the envelope, relying on our parents to KNOW where to draw the line. That party truly terrified me. It was a close call. I was angry with my mother for letting me go. That is straight from the mouth of a then immature young girl, who should not have tried to manipulate her mom. It very well could have ended in disaster. So this is one time when you know first hand what was going through my teenage mind when I wanted my way, with no clue to the possible dangers attached. ~ Diane

Wow. It sounds like at 73 you are still traumatized by this party or what happened at this party. And it sounds like you are still blaming your mom for all of this. Do you still have your mom? I hope you were able to forgive your mom? I know that experiencing trauma you might be able to forgive but satan can use the trauma in our mind to bring the trauma up again and it seems like the trauma is brand new all over again. And then we have to go through the forgiveness process all over again so we can go on. Ask me how I know all this? :) What this video helped me to understand is that some of the trauma I went through that I thought I had protected them from still affected them and they still went through trauma and the things I did to help them may still come up for them. This has really opened my eyes for me. I wish more fathers were like kip. Fathers do truly matter. As a mother you can do so much to love and devote your life to them and it still may not be enough. I really hope you can put what happened to you away. Thank you for sharing. It has helped me so much.

Hello, that was so beautiful and pure in regard to the question on dealing with a teen's anger by 1st winning their hearts at the earliest age possible.. Your answer to the question, and your response that we are the church and we meet with other people in homes really blessed me. You'd mentioned about how you found your current property through a vision/dream, and then/now meeting in homes. That really blessed me how God answered your prayers for likeminded people too. I will not give up on my prayers for that as well.. Thank you for sharing.. I pray many will glean from this wisdom.. Love to you

I like your advice and anger/battles.... I will say that oftentimes modern kids are saturated with bad examples via tv, public school, internet, etc. I think that as a parent, you need to be very careful of the types of influences you place upon your children. If the TV is the babysitter, the TV will train your children how to act. Great video. Thank you for raising such good kids and setting such a good example.

Good that you check your kids teeth! My mom was not proactive at all with my teeth and I had so many cavities and I was the only one who didn't have insurance so they paid a lot to get my teeth fixed. Cutting out sugar and carbs really helps cut back on the plaque which is good to get rid of

My experience of not going to the dentist for 10 years: I flossed and brushed a couple of times daily. I began to notice a loosening of one of my teeth. I went to the dentist and was told I had done well with my hygiene except for what was going on under the gum line. I was undermining my jawbone with the invisible and nonpainful plaque causing gingivitis-if not treated these deep infections cause a loss of tissue and bone (I never felt anything!).

@@gerrymarmee3054 My scenario happened 5 years ago and since then I have gone to the hygienist every two months. Yet, in December my dentist ordered an x-ray and then sent me to a specialist. I was told: your teeth are very clean but due to hereditary (I'm almost 66 years) you are having bone loss. I tried to explain how much time I put into my mouth (brush, floss, water pik, more than average cleaning visits, rarely eating sweets) and she reiterated that my hygiene is excellent but due to DNA/Genetics there is nothing I can do (fortunately I am not in any pain nor any lose teeth at this time. I believe in miracles; God's Will Be Done!).

Thank you for this. Since my eldest boy became a teenager I feel like I've been in mourning for my sweet little boy. I thought I HAD his heart through connection and compassion but now I find us constantly fighting. Any advice for stopping the constant undermining and the lack of respect? We homeschool and he has figured out we have no way to "force" him to do his work. I hate the idea of having to force him.

Our oldest son has been an example to all of our other children in being respectful. As I'm sure you know, peers can have a big impact on teenagers. Perhaps your son needs a good example to follow. A heart surrendered to Messiah is foundational for our attitudes toward life and learning. A soft heart is excited to learn. And learning is so much more than facts, formulas, and mental exercises. Maybe ask yourself, what is something really valuable that your son gets excited about and let learning flow from that. Also, how does he learn best . . . reading, writing, audio, visual, hands on . . . perhaps he would enjoy learning more if the learning fit his learning style. You may have already thought of these things, but if not, I hope this helps. Blessings to you.❤

Hugs, it is so hard to see love when love has been so perverted. Israel means someone who struggles with God. I am finding that is somehow relative to love. He is worthy of our struggle because He first struggled for us. I am not sure if that makes sense, for me I had to learn love did not mean all rainbows and butterfly. Love meant being held through the hard times.

I’m curious if you have medical insurance. I’m sorry if that’s personal. I’m only asking because we ourselves restarted our lives with a move to a lower cost area, and in doing so my husband took a large pay cut and we can’t afford medical insurance at this time and it makes me very nervous. Even with no mortgage and his employer paying half, we can’t afford it for a family of 6, and I’m wondering if you are in a similar boat. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do if one of my children breaks a leg or gets deathly sick. It hasn’t happened praise God, but without insurance, it feels risky.

I just want to put my input, most hospitals are non profit or have financial assistance. There is never a reason why you should have to pay a bill you simply cant afford. Also, government health coverage is available if you are low enough income. I've had 3 ER visits last year and all I had to do was fill out the forms you ask the hospital for and I never had to pay much, because i could not afford it.

In America, I wouldn’t go without health insurance or some kind of plan. We are a family of 8. At 28, my husband collapsed playing softball with an unknown genetic heart failure. His heart was 5x too large. He now has three replaced valves and a pacemaker. Without health insurance, his unexpected bill would have been over a million dollars. Three years ago, my water broke at 27 weeks and my daughter spent 93 days in the NICU. Again, with health insurance, we paid $5,000 instead of the unexpected non-insurance cost. I understand there are different Christian health sharing programs you can pay into, but I feel it may be more of a risk because there are a lot of disqualifies. Three of my kids were adopted from foster care and got to keep their Medicaid. It’s great for them. I’d look into a low income government program.
