More he knew it was hacky and uncreative to just respond like that. If you actually knew them you would know. One of the few none Hollywood people to sneak through somehow not to mention he threw the contradictions in their faces constantly as you pointed out! Sad they did Anthony like this the producer should have first waited until the guest stopped speaking then just came over the headphones and warned them about some bad news they just received! Also posting this clip before the actual Podcast came out is trashy as well. But when you garner less than 30k in subs you have to do something to move content right?

That’s literally what everyone said, and it’s disrespectful and wrong to pretend he kept his illness quiet because he wanted people to say that joke. That’s just a dumb joke he made because he knew people would say it about him, it doesn’t have anything to do with his actual motives or how he felt. If you actually want that listen to when he was on Chris Hardwicks podcast. They TALK about people who died of illness and kept it secret from everyone, norm literally talks about his hero Richard Farnsworth who did that exact thing and he said how much he admired it and how it was the right thing to do. For fucks sake he even SAYS “I might have some life ending illness right now and you don’t even know” or some shit TO Chris Hardwick and he just laughs it off because of course he didn’t know Norm actually had one at the time. He kept it secret because he didn’t want people to speculate on it, or judge his work BY that. Which is exactly what people like you keep doing you act like he was some genius who kept his cancer secret Bc he was the best comedian ever. He kept it secret because of that idea, he had said how Richard Farnsworth would of one the Oscar if he had said he had cancer or whatever he had but he didn’t. Norm knew people would overate his comedy and big him up for having cancer after his death, and you people think you’re so much better then these comedians who actually did know him and respect him. Trying to shit on them when you’re taking his death and trying to make it this deep comedic statement just so you can feel like norms death somehow was a positive thing

I really feel like Norm Macdonald has a HUGE surge of young fans that started finding all of his work on KZfaq. I'm starting to look at some old videos of Norm and there was a time where he was way heavier than normal and he'd make fat jokes about himself. @Jay yea....that’s kind of his act. Innocuous setup, dark turn for a punchline - over, and over again. The act (even for a fan) definitely wears thin after a while. But I do also think it’s good for Anthony that a lot of people aren’t fans of his act, Patrice once said [this is paraphrased] “comedy shouldn’t be everyone in the room laughing: it should be half the people laughing, and half the people horrified” imean look how hated Fallon is, largely due to his unyielding desire to be ‘like-able’

@Jay true true. My personal all-time favorite was Greg Giraldo - another naturally funny, real, genuine, authentic comic with little to no act at all, just him being funny. And there are old tough crowd episodes where you can see him and Patrice going back-and-forth with their shit talk, but it’s clear through all of it that both comics truly have one another’s respect. There’s even an episode where Greg and Patrice are on the couch next to one another and I’ve honestly never seen Patrice talk so calmly, politely and respectfully as he did to Greg in (parts of) that episode

Yeah for real. Norm was definitely one of those comedians that didn't sound like other comedians in his timing, his cadence. His jokes rarely sounded like jokes. At times you know what the punch line is going to be early on, then he would make you forget about it with some wild story, and then boom there's the punchline. He was so clever, and made it seem effortless. A comedian's comedian.

It's almost like losing family. We get to know these comedians when we really watch their body of work and feel like we know them. Norm was the comedian's comedian. I have tickets to see him October 9th and Boston and now I'm wearing the shirt today, that I was going to wear to that show. His picture with the words " the old lump of coal".... like we'll all be at some point. We'll miss you Norm, hope I see you on the flip side.😪

I loved Norm. I'm from Ontario, near the greats in comedy from there. Norm, Howie, Harland, and many more. I'm around the same age as these guy. It's sad to hear he's gone, but we must celebrate having the pleasure of his comic genius in our lives.

Thank you Howie. I think I was avoiding confronting this loss, but this video helped me process some things I wasn't dealing with about this loss. So thank you.
