That laugh at then end is so underrated. Warlow has absolutely mastered the art of playing a villain.

The sheer detail in his acting is incredible in this scene, notice how his fingers drum on the opera score? It shows the impatience and power of the character in my opinion, and the whole movement of his hands and arms are perfect, how he moves his hands with the necklace and the tears it off gets me every time -definitely someone I would study for my drama exam if I had more videos of him.

It's his anxious tic of sorts. AW is always moving when he sings, especially his hands. I love that he put it into his character, it works so well.

Out of the dozen or so Phantoms I've seen live, Warlow's was by far the best. Apart from his MASTERFUL vocal prowess, his portrayal of the character was riddled with nuance - frustration, anger, sensitivity, sadness, madness, intelligence, beauty. One of the few musical theatre performers whose acting doesn't have to compensate for a restriction of vocal dexterity.

Agreed, and it’s even more laughable when you look at all the costumes for all the other characters in that scene looked so much better(and dare I say extra?) compared to what his movie versions costume was when really he’s supposed to be the most extra looking person when waltzing in(hence why EVERYONE notices him instantly)

Just so everyone knows, the mask he’s wearing is a two piece mask. So he puts the upper part that covers his eyes on and then connects the lower half to a hinge on the upper half or he could have put the lower half on first (which would have a rubber band that goes over top of his head because if he did a metal wire like for the famous white mask that everyone knows, the jaw wouldn’t move because metal isn’t as stretchy as rubber) then he does the rest. Does any of what I just said make sense at all??

Easy: two phantoms. One is a body double while the real phantom runs off stage during the darkness and in this case, laughs. The body double also acts like he’s laughing to sell the effect.

Because he’s a murderer… He wasn’t truly in love with Christine either. It was an obsession, and he used his power over her to try and make her his. He realizes this by the end when Christine shows him an act of compassion, and he realizes “ah shit I’m a bit of an asshole” and let’s her go. This SHOULDVE been the end of it, but Andrew Webber got divorced and wrote Lover Never Dies as a totally-not-desperate way to impress his ex.

The Red Death costumes on stage make the movie version look like a total bore. Of course that's like comparing diamonds to cardboard, but like JESUS this outfit looks SO cool. And the moving mouthpiece? Amazing. I guess they couldn't push the envelope at all with the movie. Someone in corporate probably wanted Gerard Butler to look "hot" and "appealing" rather than fuckin macabre and dope as all hell.

joseph rouleau in theory sure, but if it’s meant to be scary, like this scene suggests, you’re out of luck
@DatGayGoblin5 жыл бұрын
Autobot Productions eh I find it amazing personally it fits the character so well, since I suppose at the time skeletons would have been seen as something scary, but there were a part of man, like the phantoms skin issue he is the same as everyone else but is seen as scary, he also needed a mask to hide his identity whilst sticking out from the crowd, so a skeleton works perfectly with the idea of him living in a dungeon!
