In this webinar, we delved into recent strides in the progression of Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs) and their regulatory approvals for both hematological malignancies and solid tumors. Additionally, we tackled the hurdles impeding the advancement of this auspicious anti-cancer therapy and examined ongoing research initiatives dedicated to surmounting these challenges.
Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are a relative new class of anticancer drug with high specificity and potent killing properties. ADCs consist of three key components, a monoclonal antibody, a linker and a payload. With the specific antibody targeting the surface antigen of tumor cells, ADCs is internalized and processed by the endo-lysosomal system to release the potent cytoxic drug. Each of these major components in the development of ADCs may affect the efficacy and safety. In addition, others such as internalization rate, choice of linkers and conjugation methods also enables a successful ADC.
A highlight of the webinar is the introduction of DT3C, a recombinant protein primarily used for the in vitro assessment of the internalization efficiency of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) by cancer cells, thereby enabling the screening of more effective monoclonal antibodies.
