Antique Flowers part 4:Cosmos and Love in a Mist/ Making a Blackberry Mousse and a Monterey Quiche

We're starting the morning with another delicious Mousse recipe and a Monterey Jack Quiche. Todays Antique Flowers from seed are the "Cosmos" and "Love in a Mist". Lunch will be served beneath the Pergola.
In order of appearance:
o:oo Making a Blackberry/Peach Mousse
3:12 Making a Monterey Jack Quiche
4:28 Garden Problem
9:49 Antique flowers today, Cosmos and Love in a Mist
20:54 Let's eat Quiche from Bordallo Pinhiero tableware
A note about the Mousse; after the final stir, pour into individual serving cups and freeze. Place in fridge 2 hours before serving to soften it up a bit.
Ingredients for a Basic Quiche Crust from the " The Peach Tree Tea Room" by Cynthia Pedregon
1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp. lard or Crisco
6 Tbsp.chilled butter, in cubes
5 Tbsp. Iced water
Mix as you would any pie crust and cook in oven for 8-10 minutes before filling with Quiche mix.

Oh my! I can certainly relate to your garden problem! At 62 I put in 9 different gardens on my 2 acres. I enjoyed every minute of it! BUT! Now that I am pushing 80 yrs of age it has become too much for me to handle while living alone. My neighbor and I are constantly complaining to each other and asking each other "what the hell were we thinking?" So now we just do what we can and the rest will have to wait. I do wish you good luck with your garden renovations. I am sure that it will be gorgeous when you complete it. Do continue to take time to do your videos though. I thoroughly enjoy each one!

I feel the same way. I have the same exact issues you do. I got carried Away with gardening. Now its over whelming and sad. I learn to use more mulch to cut down on weeds. Anything I can think of to cut back on maintenance of gardens. It never ends. I made a pond that adds to the work. But enjoy the peacefulness it creates. Maybe turn some gardens to grass again. ???? Yes I feel your pain.

I’m in the same boat-or garden. Twenty years ago I couldn’t get enough of it. Now I’ve just turned 75 and it seems overwhelming! I’ve added a lot of hostas!

Borage is a great plant for a blue garden and the flowers are edible and hummingbirds love them and they reseed easily.

I love the combo of the floral display in the pitcher-Cosmos (fond memories), Larkspur, Bachelor Buttons etc. And the breathless dinnerware, so amazing, details on plates, and that so adorable frog pitcher, awh...sigh. Nice to see you planting bachelor buttons, cornflowers and cosmos. I planted all these for the first time this spring. Hopefully mine will be as beautiful. I have jasmine tea but never thought to drink it cold, I will definitely try it. I love your wee needle felted characters dressed up. I would rather work in my garden than a gym anyday!

I have white love in a mist in a south facing border here in western Oregon. It was here when we moved into this house 5 years ago. I didn't know what it was. I love the look, with the pointy leaves that grow to the back of the flower. The seed pods are wonderful. They come back every year. Love the wildlife sounds!

What a fun video. I loved seeing the peacock tail sneaking by on your prepared bed. I love the idea of an English garden that you’d see around a thatched cottage with mounds of all kinds of flowers spaced so there’s always something for cutting. Good luck with your blue garden. A delicious lunch!

Hi Jeri! I have really enjoyed catching up watching your videos. I've been gardening, ❤! I have poppies this year, inspired by you to plant them, and they have been so beautiful! I'm looking forward to getting the seed pods later. The pandemic was somewhat of a blessing for me as I travel a lot with my husband on business trips, but he was grounded and that meant I am home everyday finally! I have been gardening like a mad women, lol, and the flowers, mostly started by me in my greenhouse are blooming now and are so lovely. I started Blue bedder sage last year and it didn't do well, but I transferred it to my front porch area and it is beautiful this year. It's a perenial and looks like a cottage flower. It almost looks like lavender with it's plumes of light purple flowers at the tips. I wanted to tell you about it because I think it would be a nice fit in one of your beautiful gardens. Thank you for your inspiring videos!

My dog loves these videos. The chickens crowing are his favorite. He runs, barking, from window to window looking for the chickens. Great fun.
