I got to fuel this plane and take a tour of the inside in 2003. Still remember the tail number 82060. The thing is insane. We sat at the end of the runway as it took off, it didn't look like it was going to make it off of the ground. We put 17,000 gallons on it and that is a SMALL fuel load for this plane. It was just flying from AZ (where I was) to NY after dropping off a 300,000 lb generator for SRP. I stood under the tail and had one of my co-workers take my camera and walk out til both wing tips were in the picture with me under the tail. I looked like an ant. Our 10,000 gallon fuel trucks looked like children's Tonka toys next to this plane. It doesn't look like it should be able to fly at all. A true marvel of human engineering. A panel on the inside of the fusilage is stickered with aviation stickers from airlines and airports all over the world. I've worked in aviation for 25 years now, I've seen and worked with almost every private, commercial and military plane that flies today (and a lot that don't fly anymore) and this tops the list as the most impressive aircraft I've ever seen.

Mamt Patet as soon as the wheels leave the ground, the wings hold all the weight. So the body of the plane is basically hanging from the wings now
@philipking19704 жыл бұрын
wings does not straighten with lift... it is a cambered wing which you need to be at an angle of attack even at non-flight. In order to generate lift and to continue to generate lift you need to be at a certain lift coefficient, Cl. You need maximum thrust at takeoff to generate enough lift to get if off the ground and at cruise you need your lift and weight to be balanced or at equilibrium, like I said, with a cambered wing you're at an angle of attack which helps maintain equilibrium at lift to weight ratio at cruise level....

As well as there are 10 mln persons of Russian origin in Ukraine, but that doesn't mean that they are Russians - most 90% of them were born and live in Ukraine and consider themselves as Ukrainians. Almost 5 mln of Ukrainians have the Polish surnames - but it is impossible to call them Poles as their ancestors live on Ukraine since 17 centur. In the Soviet Union the nationality didn't have any matter, there was a term "Soviet citizen" and the course to unite all the nations of the USSR to one Soviet nation. The Kiev aviamechanic plant and Antonov constr.bureau were in Kiev (ukr. Kyiv), Ukrainian SSR. As well as most of workers, engineers were also Ukrainians, but there also were many Jews, Russians and other nationalities. The half of industries of the USSR were in Ukrainian SSR. So many people from other Soviet republics went to work to Ukraine. The problem of Russians is that they want to gain all awards to Russia forgeting other nationalities. For example, in Russia Putin likes to say that Russians won the World War 2. That is a pure Russian propaganda to make a myth that only Russians won a war. But nobody says that during liberation of Europe from Nazi in 1944-1945 the number of Russians and Ukrainians in Red Army in Europe was almost 50%/50%. There's nothing about physics that makes this seem impossible. Make it proportionally larger, and any size aircraft can fly.

Yuriy Korostelyov no, the Antonov company was just relocated from Novosibirsk region to V krajina, a region that is now no longer part of Russia, and this kind of aircraft don't even have any use to The U kraine other than ranting it to others.

Wish I could have seen this in person. Can feel the amazing power at lift off even here! Reminds me of a gigantic, beautiful pelican--my favourite bird.

A gigantic aircraft larger than 6 full grown argentinosaurus or 100 tyrannosaurus put together, nearly the length of 3 blue whales, with a wingspan wider than 9 hatzegopteryx next to each other, and nearly as tall as a sauroposeidon or brachiosaurus getting off the ground is a truly, extremely, unimaginably awe-inspiring monster to behold!! ;)

I so wish it could fly over my house. It is beautiful. Good take off. A Dneper left Cape Town SA this morning. Almost missed it, as the engines were so quiet.

Phsyics: Things that weigh 683,000 lbs can't stay in the air. Humans: What if we put slabs on the side and 6 propulsion systems? Physics: Oh ok lawl be my guest :3

Everything can fly as long as you put a big enough engine on it (see the F-4 aka "Flying Brick")

elscientist Also Boeing tested their 747-8F; it flew with one million pounds of "Cargo".
@alpointner63310 жыл бұрын
Nice comment so far, but there is a correction required: the take off maximum weight of the 225 is not 683.00 lbs but something about 600 metric tons. The respective equivalent is some 1.320.000 lbs!
@alpointner63310 жыл бұрын
ArthurSixx Never ever! The TOWmax of the 747-8F is about 987.000 lbs, so the cargo definitely can´t be "one million pounds". Prospective payload capacity (not yet tested to its end) is appr. 300.000+ lbs. So please don´t claim things you have no clue about...
@alpointner63310 жыл бұрын
***** Not necessarily! You can make any cupboard fly by mounting powerful engines on it. Some indefinite non aerodynamic surface will be enough for it. See also knife edge flight without using any wings.
