Ten Hag had to improvise and it worked. The players on the field must be ready to take up any role if asked to do so. As a modern player you must be versatile and be ready to work for your team in any role. Ask John O'shea who stepped in to play as goal keeper some seasons ago.

I do not think he was actually complaining about that at all, you can see Dalot complaining as well. Maybe they were complaining about ref not blowing the final time whistle. People always try to find problems where there are none.

That was what I wanted to say. Antony has a good relationship with ten Hag and he owes him a lot. I don’t think he would have ever played for Argentina if ten Hag didn’t give him the time at Ajax, where he started pretty much like he started at Man United, but ten Hag trusted him and it paid off. He became immensely popular and successful. Great player. But it’s not working for him at Man United. His goal last Sunday was extremely important for Antony, so I can imagine that Antony, in a game where he finally scored and could even potentially become the man of the match, wasn’t happy when he was told he had to play in the defense. After all, it’s not unthinkable that in that role he could have made a crucial mistake that wouldn’t only have taken away a bit of the critique for his poor performances earlier this season, but it could have led to a win for Liverpool and that would have had serious consequences for his career. So yes, I would be scared as f*ck as well and I certainly wouldn’t be happy with ten Hag’s decision. However, fortunately it paid off, both ten Hag AND Antony turned into heroes, atleast for now. After all, you’re only as good as your last game. One more thing to add (sorry)…: I’m convinced that Antony, under normal circumstances, would be happy to play wherever ten Hag believes he’s needed. But because of the poor shape he’s in and all the criticism he’s getting from the fans, the circumstances are far from normal, let alone perfect.

If Antony had played left back earlier he wouldn't have scored the equaliser to bring the match to extra time and if Garnacho was not the one having the ball but the selfish Rashford he wouldn't have passed the ball to Amad to score the winning goal

He's lucky he gets any play at all. I'd have him dumped him on the transfer list with a work rate that bad. He ain't worth his salary. That's the problem. Our bench sucks. Look at the players' stats. We've only got five good producers. Our GF is horrible for our position. It's being the 4th best defense that's kept us at 6th place. Even 1 more player with a high G+A rate and we'd be higher in the tables. 2 more and we'd be possible contenders in Europe. Could easily clean out the unproductive from the bench and get a bunch of good youth outta the lower levels in the league and abroad for what we pay the useless ones we have now. I wish I had the money to buy the team.

Antony’s biggest problem is his lack of self confidence. When he came to Ajax he seemed very mediocre, but when he started to score a couple of goals his confidence grew and his skills were truly amazing. He could keep the ball in the team as long as was needed, he could dribble like the best of them, he scored frequently, he outplayed his opponents with ease and he had everything in him to believe he could become a superstar. When he joined Man United I was convinced he would grow even more and indeed become the superstar I believed he could be. Even after it took a while and he didn’t look great, I still thought he just needed a few goals. But the goals didn’t come and after 1,5 years I think he’d be better off starting anew at a club like Dortmund and hope their style of playing will suit him better. But it’s his lack of confidence more than anything else. Or… (and I don’t exclude that possibility) I am just a complete idiot with no football knowledge whatsoever. 😬😬😬
