Subscribed, can't wait to see updates in the future. And also yes I think it would be pretty amazing if you could film the ants collecting/storing the eggs but it would be interesting to see what happened when it hatched, whether it was killed by the ants or not is another story I guess lol.

They use myrmecomorphy to blend in with the ants to walk through the nest and out into the trees, and look toxic to predators apparently! Would be interesting to record, it’s not the species they evolved with, so might not work out, but would be interesting to watch. It would be incredibly hard to catch it on film unless I set up a 24/7 camera though 😂

Up to a couple of years apparently but they could grow faster or slower! Best for ants to make sure there’s not too much vast space compared to workers, as it’s harder for them to maintain or gather their seeds etc ☺️

Know this video is a year old but how are the ants doing? I'm researching ants because my 7 year old is obsessed with them and I've promised him if he passes 1st grade and it's not to hard we would look into an ants farm. How often do u have to clean the cage? When you do clean it, what do you do with the ants? Thanks a bunch! And p.s. the sound was perfect. 😂

I’ve never cleaned it out 😂 they’ve made a mini rubbish pile for me to remove easily if I wanted but it’s just a few empty seed hulls so I’ve just left it. I feed them maybe once a month with more seeds but they have a massive hoard saved in their burrows so I try not to do too much with their stash 😂 honestly, super easy. Easier than plants haha they’re doing well, literally just look the same and doing the same as in this video 😂

I have a colony of wild sugar ants that lives in my bedroom. I allow them to stay, the only downside is if i leave a drink on my headboard too long its no longer my drink it's the ants drink

@@jadesjungle I've done lots of research and I've decided on messor articular ( I may of completely butchered the name 😆) I'm going to try and buy a 2nd hand enclosure because they are soooooo expensive. 😆

Blimey that reply was a bit abrupt the microphone is fine maybe a touch too much reverb for my tastes lol. Very interesting video btw hopefully you do an update
