The only thing that I want to say is a big thank you to all musicians who played for DEEP PURPLE over the years.

Ritchie was my old time favorate. Then I heard Steve who became my all time favorate. I admire both. There are three versions of Anya- Ritchie, Joe, and Steve. I can watch this DVD everyday. I don't know what you guys think but for me I always think Steve teach Ritchie a lesson on how to play his song well. This version is unbeatable, man. Not even Yngwee or Michael Angelo.

Steve is the best replacement for Blackmore. And he's original, too! Does anyone think that DP needed a Blackmore-clone???

Steve saved Deep Purple, this video is the proof of that. I mean, I loved the reunion years w. Ritchie, the shortlived stint with JLT, as well as Satriani stepping in for Ritchie for the late 1993 and 1994 summer tours, but as soon as Steve joined, the band were "healthy" again. They did their most experimental album 'Purpendicular', which is just as strong as 'Perfect Strangers' in my opinion. 'Bananas' and 'Rapture...' proves the band still got it, and can pull it off with Steve on the guitar.

Steve is good. He is simply "not Ritchie". Steve is a totally different guitar player, is far technically better and knows a lot ot musical styles, he was a good choice to bring fresh air to DP. But Ritchie was "the Man", his style made DP really DP. His visionary approach to the music is simply unique.

@cheatle They play more old songs than new just because of fans (not me) who asking always for "classical songs". I listen very often to new albums and i like them as much as olds.What i try to do actually is to reconstitute each studio album with live versions and from each song i chose version with Ritchie or Steve, it depends, but i still miss some songs to complete that work. In my heart i prefere Steve just because Thanks to him Deep Purple is still alive......

Only listen to Anya played by Ritchie and compare the differences. Steve's playing is technically perfect, but no one can be expressive as Ritchie, no one.

@cheatle16 жыл бұрын
when i went to watch deep purple last year, it was like having the studio tracks from machine head played to me. and i no that the new stuff they make is away from ritchie's style, i just don't c why if steve morse is such a better player, they don't do more of his stuff than ritchies. went i went the only song that wasnt written by ritchie was rapure of the deep.

I'm not surprised by the opinions against Steve Morse. What can you expect from uneducated primitive Blackmore fans stuck in the 70's. To people with any concept of music it is clear that Steve was known for being a virtuoso composer, musician, guitarist and unique in his own a style long before Deep Purple. Tehnically unlimited on the guitar, his compositions show that his thinking is ''out of box''. A plus, we can add, the good character he possesses and his work rate on live shows... If you have no clue about music, at least you might have some respect for Steve, because he's the reason Jon Lord wanted to play with Deep Purple for a few more years. (after 1993)

steve morse just proves that ritchie blackmore was the weakest link the last few years before he departed the band
@yngward14 жыл бұрын
The performance is really nice, and it is easy to assume that Steve is a great technical guitarist (better than Ritchie, i guess), but personally I prefer his work with Dixie dregs and SMB. This performance just lacks Blackmore's power and epic feeling, I guess :) And solo is kinda... too 'shreddy'
@cheatle16 жыл бұрын
ritchie is known for his riffs, and solos. enough. and i know many professional teachers who would say ritchie over morse any day. and if i don't know who steve is, you obviously don't know who ritchie is.

i don't see where you are getting the idea from that ritchie isnt known for his solo's. he is known for both his solo's and riffs. ritchie is the better guitar player out of the two.
@werbeboard10 ай бұрын
Not
@cheatle16 жыл бұрын
ritchie isnt known for his solos? Highway Star, Lazy, Burn, You Fool No One, Place In The Line.And are just to name a few. the Anya from Stugart in 1993 has a miles better solo then this one. Steve Morse will never have greater guitar ability than Blackmore, if he did they wouldnt keep playing Blackmore's Music and do the stuff from 1994 forward.
