I just love it when Paice drops his stick and still keeps the beat solid as rock!

my favorite thing about steve morse is no matter what the speed of the solo/song is he picks every note in it...the only time he doesn't pick is when he is string bending! Amazing!

Like David Coperfield, magically got one at a second!!! He is VERY professional, I have the luck of saw DP here in Spain last September 12 (2008) and Paice drums sounds like firecrackers. The sound they have is incredible. You may think I´m a drummer but I´m not, I admire them all Specially Steve Morse. cheers to all DP fans!

This is of the 2005 Rapture of the Deep album, Blackmore had left by then, he left in 1993 I think. Steve morse wrote the guitar bits on this song.

I agree with you caspianrex. I Would have never thought of DP without Blackmore and Lord. But I am impressed with Morse and Airey. The band sounds mature.

Don Airey is an INCREDIBLE player...but I miss Jon Lord, still! Steve morse is simply spectacular..

It's a shame, I think a lot of fans like Morse, it's just that there are people who never got over Blackmore leaving Purple and are more Blackmore fans than Purple fans, which again is a shame. This is a great track, it's actually one of my favourite Purple tracks (along with 'Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming' - another Morse song) I personally am a big fan of Steve Morse, one of the best guitarists I've ever seen play (I am lucky enough to have seen Purple with Morse twice).
@Lil194312 жыл бұрын
Undoubtedly the BEST version I've heard of this beautiful song. Is Gillan singing in a lower key than in other versions? Sounds like it because he has trouble hitting those high notes now - and his voice very strained on high notes on other versions of this song.

I've always loved Steve Morse...better than Richie Blackmore, in fact. I was skeptical when I heard that Jon Lord was leaving the band. I thought no one could take his place. But frankly, I am completely amazed by Don Airey. I don't know if anyone could have been a better replacement for Don Lord than he has been. Rapture of the Deep is the best DP album to come out in the past 15 years.

@GeorgVanHalen A few years ago Roger Glover was telling me how they used to be called "Roundabout" and that the name still sticks with him as while the band goes round and round the members jump on and off onto different bands, come back, go again...

@sejemandhaha - Ian Gillan is a big part of why Deep Purple become the monster they was in the 70's, Roger Glover has been apart of Deep Purple / Rainbow just as much as any other member, Don Airey has a long history with the bandmembers and is approved by Jon Lord himself. As for Steve Morse he has done a fine job carrying on the band after Ritchie Blackmore. I believe they have every right to keep the name even dough the band has had ALOT of bandmembers in and out.

Looks like when Spinal Tap left hard rock and became a jazz band. I always liked Steve Morse and all, but he never had charisma or even looked like a guitar hero. He looks like a guy working in a guitar store. DP without Ritchie Blackmore is like Van Halen without Eddie. It simply can't be. Period.
