If the immigration process were made easier and people could immigrate the legal way without having to wait 10+ years, our border would be secured. There would be less illegal immigration, and the people apprehended would be people that we really don't want in the country (criminals, etc.) The most common method of illegal immigration nowadays is a visa overstay, which securing the border will have no effect on. Immigration reform is what's needed.
