By the time you beat this I would still be where you beat the engineers and trying to build up an eco and army. Maybe making rows of houses and farms. You know, trying to make a living, trying to make a community to face our great foes in the coming 5 hours of battle.

I very vividly remember beating this for the first time with my dad when I was a kid (like 6 I think) - took us over 5 hours game time! :D

Theres one strategy where instead of building your base on the mainland, you sailed straight to Jin territory and sort of build your base there, advance to castle. 1. Then build your castle near Jin southern gate. 2. Lure Jin troops and villagers by using the castle to kill them. 3. Then slowly defeat Jin. 4. Since none of the other Chinese enemies will create wonder or ships, you can take your time to slowly clear them off.

i finished this level after 4 hours and built as many outposts so I can see every pixel of the map

just asking do you get any other achievements other than "i was in china before" if you win in a certain amount of time, or is this just a self challenge?

Speedruns are not just specific to me and my channel, it is a whole community-wide endeavor. That's why I always have the world record time in the description, as well as the community speedrun website :)

So i was stuck at this level because windowd 95 was lagging so much it was simply undoable once the chinese started building stuff!

How can it be more time effective to build a siege workshop and a battering ram and then bring the gate down instead of 2-3 petards?

Well we were already in plan-B mode at that point... so it's not like that was supposed to be an optimized part of the run 11

Why Save & Load is not allowed in speed run? If allowed I think ur life would be much easier.

Yes it would be easier - that's why it's not allowed. Part of the speedrun challenge is the skill and precision needed to do a complete scenario. Otherwise you could just save every few seconds and get a near-perfect run and it wouldn't be very fun

@@OrnLu_AoE I reckon forbidding SL also prevents strats where u have to be too lucky to be replicable
