Hello Aaron, I have put in a a good few (hundred) hours into Planetfall and it is nice to hear such positive feedback from a veteran player. As for the Dvar, your Boris would give me no end of trouble as I still struggle with the Dvar, whether it be playing them or fighting them!

Hi Airbomb, Thank you for the feedback and also especially for the use of the word substantive to describe my videos :-) As for the views, when starting out, one gets lost in the mass of new content being produced for You Tube and it takes time to filter through but eventually word gets out ;-)

I just picked this game up on sale. I have played the series since the beginning through to AOW III. THey have always had a learning curve from game to game. I agree the tutorials in game don't explain every thing. I am digging these guides.

I'm surprised you didn't mention this very tasty Vanguard combo: PUG + Engineer. Put out a turret, resupply charge, put out another turret. Having a whole extra gun and a whole extra overwatch is a lifesaver when you're fighting uphill!

@@FrostEesOP Hope to see deep dives into the details of the game mechanics. Like the difference between armour and that other one. How much does one point of armour actually reduce damage? Also what does the sector upgrades give of extra production? How does the 8 chance to apply burning work? What strategic operations to use? NPC relations optimizations and so much more. It really is a fun game. I play with xenoplauge, but wonder if anyone knows the odds of creating a pustule. Is there anything I can do in battle to increase the evolving of a pustule to the next level or is it regular parasitic infection?

Hello Jon, wow, that is a lot of questions :-) With my Planetfall episodes, I am increasing in complexity and the level of detail as I progress.Before I move to examining the resource packs and discussing the game mechanics stats in minutia, I plan to deliver content based more on general game play such as battle tactics for each faction, tips on NPC relations etc.. which will of course include effects of game mechanics such as armour providing no protection to psionic weapons or shields not providing protection against melee attacks. Thank you for the feedback and this helps a lot in giving direction to my production plans :-)

@@FrostEesOP I will watch all the vids, but I think you can attract interest if you deep dive into the non-clear parts of Planetfall. General tips and tricks are done by many, a clear explanation of what upgrading a sector means resource wise is done by few :) Good luck

@@FrostEesOP I do have a question tho, is melee or ranged more viable for end game battles? I really want to have a commander wielding a sword throughout my play through but wana make sure he melee doesn’t get obsolete in endgame

@@Keomayo121 It is really a matter of personal preference but some factions are better suited to end game melee such as the Oathbound, the Kir'ko and not forgetting, the most badass end-game melee unit, the Therian Apex 😀

I've watched this like 5 times now, before playing a proper first game... I just can't pick one "race" and this is the only video I can use as a reference... I wish more people did in depth guides about this... There are more on Age of Wonders 4 (even though it is 2 days before release) than on planetfall which is... infuriating...

Hello David, If you like to fight at range then I would recomment the Vanguard and if you prefer close range combat, I would go with the Kir'ko. Both factions are good all-rounders with good low tier combat units.

Hey Frost, I'm sorry if this is already answered somewhere else in your videos, but can you explain what [Status] 8 Strength chance to ... Is 8 strength chance really good? is it 50/50 ?? I don't understand what it means

Hiya Lancaster, The short answer is yes, that is a good. The long answer is: The status strength is a multiplier which is inserted into a formula which takes into account the ability of the receiver to counter the status (Total Resist). The formula is: 10 * Status Strength * 0.9 ^ (Total Resist)% where Total Resist is: (Unit Tier -1) x 2 + resistance - weakness) So if you have an 8 status strength and you are using against a tier 1 unit with no resistance or weakness, it is: 10 x 8 * 0.9 ^ (0)%. As decimals are rounded up, this is equivalent to 80 * 1% which gives 80% chance of success. If using against a tier 2 unit with a resistance of 2 to the status effect then the unit TR is (2-1) x2 +2 which gives a TR of 4 which we put into the formula as: 10 x 8 * 0.9 ^ (4)% which equates to 10 x 8 * (0.9 x 0.9 x 0.9 x 0.9) which equates to 80 * 0.66 and gives a result of a 53% chance of success. Which faction would be best/easiest to play for a beginner? How would you rank them in terms of strength and difficulty? Thx a lot.

Hello CKY, It is not so much which is best/easiest but which faction is best suited to your playstyle. Personally, I find most people start out with a focus on skirmish ability and the Vanguard & Amazon are great for fighting at range whilst the Kir'ko do well in Melee combat and Assembly are good all-rounders. Once you get more strategic and into playing the long game then the Dvar and Syndicate come into their own. I would be interested to hear the views of other players on this as it is a great topic :-)

Vanguard are most 'humanlike' in tactics and overall feel. If you played new X-Com youll find yourself at home. But ye, as the lady said- as you learn more all sides and secret tech combos are very viable and fair.

If you are considering a new direction such as no mans sky I can strongly recommend subnautica it’s a very good exploration- survival game. Hope this helps x

@@FrostEesOP If you want an awesome narrative style exploration game check out Heaven's Vault. You go about discovering a lost civilization through a nebula where you actually work to decipher the glyphs and language of the ancients, it was super cool. I heard great things about Outer Wilds, too, but haven't tried it yet.

Hi Verdant, The play style of each faction is rather different and I will be covering tactics for each faction in future episodes. It is natural to lean towards one faction over others though and in my case, it is the Kir'ko. My order of preference is Kir'Ko, Syndicate, Amazon, Vanguard, Assembly and Dvar (oh, do I struggle with the Dvar!!).

You may not care at all, but "corps" is pronounced 'core'. Example being the Marine Corps irl, or the Purifier Corps in game. IIRC its one of the many French originating words in English due to the saxon or norman invasions centuries ago. It is a military unit size category, in the US for instance an Army Corps is two to five divisions, meaning somewhere between 20,000-45,000. While the branch of the US Marine Corps started out as a Corps it is quite a few times larger than that now in total personel, a similar story would likely be applied to the Purifiers in the Purifier Corps in game. I know its confusing because everybody sees "corp." for corporation before they ever see "corps" but they are said very differently, just like the states Kansas and Arkansas which have the same English/French origin respectively.

Yep it's French for "body" and the P (and when plural the S) are silent. My source: being Quebecois. I think Napoleon called the group of soldiers a "body" because it also had a "head" but don't quote me on that.

- Edit - I realize this is an old video, I watch your videos out of order, and this was the one that made me finally want to comment. So apologies for the "necro" post. Frost, generally I like the way you set up your videos. But more and more as I watch videos after having learnt the game myself I realize that a fair amount of the information you present is wrong. In a few cases it seems you are unaware of mechanics, in some it seems you have miss-understood mechanics and present completely wrong information, and in some you confuse some mechanics with others. @32:15 there is an instance of the last case, you are presenting superior overwatch; which gives +25% damage, while talking about agile overwatch; which allows overwatch with 3 action points regardless of how many were available when activating. Please take the time to make sure you are presenting correct information, as each time I discover that one of your guides has given me false information it makes me doubt all of the advice you present - which makes me not want to continue watching your videos. I think you bring good content and would like to see your platform grow, I think just taking a little time to bring your full attention to the details will really help your subscription base :)
