For all the people who say they think they've been in love, or they don't believe in it - you'll know it 100% when you fall in it. It's very real. I'm a 39 year old, single, no kids by choice guy. I've been in love once at 24 years old. The type where you longed for her. Your heart skipped when it was her calling. It never happened again. And I don't know if it ever will. Many ex's later and I still sometimes smile when I think about those good times. 100% she was the love of my life. It's real. Try not to lose it once you catch it.

Thank you for highlighting how love is not just romantic, it’s familial love and friendship too. There are people, like me, who are aromantic, which means that we rarely or never fall in love, no matter how much we want to. People who don’t know us will say that we will never love and don’t have emotions. This simply is not true. We still feel love, just not the kind that makes your heart beat faster and releases the dopamine and sex hormones. We love our friends and our family, and still feel everything else the same way that others do. So again, thank you for this.

"One can promise actions, but not feelings, for the latter are involuntary. He who promises to love forever or hate forever or be forever faithful to someone is promising something that is not in his power." -Friedrich Nietzsche Love is a decision, it is a judgment, it is a promise. If love were only a feeling, there would be no basis for the promise to love each other forever. A feeling comes and it may go. How can I judge that it will stay forever, when my act does not involve judgment and decision. -Erich Fromm

I mean, biological doesn't always mean efficient. We today's humans have a ton of qualities and properties that aren't exactly compatible with the today's world, but we have made them work mostly. Our evolution hasn't catched up and probably won't in the future. For example, you can get addicted to unhealthy things like tobacco. Dopamine is produced but you are getting cancer. Another example of the biological working against itself or failing is that we have made it okay and often might even want to not have children, which is against the biological meaning of life.

Love is pain, sacrifice, and dedication. Love is selfless. Love is about giving, not taking. Love does not discriminate. Bear in mind that love has nothing to do with romance and vice versa. They are two separate phenomena which are oftentimes lumped together in various cultures. Romantic love _is strictly conditional,_ whereas love is _unconditional._ That is the chief difference imho. Love can also to turned inwards as it can be turned outwards. To love and accept others requires the ability for one to love and accept themselves as well.

Without watching this yet. I'll answer it. Love is often confused for lust and we associate it with our carnal desires. Sadly many people feel they don't love someone anymore because they can't be satisfied by them. This is 100% the wrong way to look at this. We also throw the word around loosely and it really dilutes the true feelings associated with it. When you truly love your life partner or significant other or best friend, it's not different than the love you have for close family. Your carnal desires have nothing to do with it. Love is when no matter how tough things may get, you'll do anything for someone to help better their life. Even if it means sacrificing your friendship in the end because you feel it's the only way to help the other person or giving your life to save them. When you have different world views and you still tolerate one another and take care of each other when either of you are sick. And so on.

Love isn't just a "chemical reaction", or whatever people try to place it as. __Love is both a feeling and a choice.__ True love is doing things you don't feel like doing, regardless of what you want. You make the conscious decision every morning/day, when you see them, to love that person. "I am going to love them, whether I have the emotion/wanting to do it or not, because this person holds more importance to me than myself." Even if the other person never sees it that way. Bringing "that" up (out of anger; twisted) would only be trying to justify your side, which is reactive jealousy. It may feel like a loss afterwards, but that's only natural. The difference is, both hatred and sorrow are uniquely divergent. You recover from sorrow overtime, but you "satisfy" yourself from hatred after you get what you believe is deserved. If you become bitter/jealous over something which they have in that case, it will only get worse. Love is not jealous. Ask yourself this.. Can I still celebrate this person, even when they have the very thing I want for myself? You can desire what they have, but jealousy has two sides. It's the idea of "I want what you have", but then the deeper aspect of jealousy is oh, "I wish you didn't have what you have". That's when jealousy gets really deep seated, deep rooted, and very severe. Anyway, most people don't see it that way, and most people choose that it should be both ways. (If it isn't, they only were in it to also be loved back, which is "Conditional" Love.) However, Yes, it should be, but true love is not dependent on both sides cooperating to the same goal. "Unconditional" Love is when you truly love the person, despite/regardless of what they can give or offer. That love is beyond desire and passion, unselfish and thoughtful, and the morality of both trust and self-sacrifice. It's both hard and unfair when it isn't reciprocated back.. After that, it's a choice. After all, knowledge leads capacitation (capacity) for choice. Ask yourself this.. 1. Can I look out for the best interest of this person, even when, they are disregarding mine? 2. Can I put up with this person over a long period of time, even if they never ever change?

Love is when you get through that experience when you finally feel your inside self like a light cold wind lighlty blows on grass in cloudy sunny day. no problems, no depression, when you just live your life by your wholesome self.

To me love is a choice. Every time I think about someone in my class and think about what if I get a crush un this person? And then I do somehow fall in love with them just by thinking about them half the time. So yeah I CAN tell myself to fall in love with one specific person and I think most people do it unconsciously too.

Sometimes I think of “learning to like a face,” a concept that some people will be apart of your life, whether you do desire or despise them. Learning to like a face reflects maturity and optimism, it shows your social abilities. Whenever I find myself with someone who becomes temporarily or for longer, apart of my life, I know that I must at least be able to respect them. I find respect is the key to learning to like someone.

Love..., it's basically Attachment. When one becomes attached to anything, people essentially, disappointment and suffering will inevitably ensue. So I've begun the process of detaching myself from the myriad of things and people as much as I know I can, because ultimately Life in the end is about Letting Go of everything and everyone. The only thing you can keep and will die with you are memories. So even after letting go, you'll still suffer the memories in your last hour.
@anestos2180
@anestos2180 2 жыл бұрын
actually i don't think that's the case. attachment is lust and also memories which is also knowledge, knowledge is always in the past just like attachment. but love is always in the now.if you've felt love and kept it as memory then it becomes desire and will inevitably will bring suffering. ultimately you must free your self from the emotional registration of facts that happening around you but that needs a lot self enquiry. the hardest think to let go at the end is the self which is your past. true love exist when there is no "i" and when "i" doesn't exists there is only now.

Like all of us now it's neurological, but why do we have it? and as said in this video, it's maybe for parent to love their child, or for people to procreate. and philosophy is just asking why? Love is a feeling. It’s an abstract sensation. Probably some form of abstract neuronal structure. I think emotions in general are kind of like how thinking is talking without triggering vocal muscles. However, it’s even lower layers of neurons than that, like phantom limb syndrome without ever having limbs to begin with (so it’s abstract). I think there’s something more to it than just physical sensations though, some spiritual or metaphysics thing that we don’t understand yet.

For those who struggle finding self-love, try to think it the other way around: since you are able to love others, you can love yourself too. I personally find the "if you don't love yourself you won't be able to fully love others" a dangerous trap. One can purposely avoid loving relationships because of it, getting even lonelier.

Agreed. If we had to “love ourselves to receive love” many people would not be in relationships or even married. We’re all flawed and insecure and we should never that stop us from receiving love. However if we genuinely are self-loathing and don’t take care of ourselves then love will be more difficult to achieve with others… Even if someone loves us we won’t be able to feel it if we can’t love ourselves… that’s why love is even better when we can create those feelings within ourselves first:). Iunno my ramblings, great comment.
@nawee6801
@nawee6801 2 жыл бұрын
Yup it is a dangerous trap, especially when its taken too literally. I think it initially was meant for people who (like me) dealt with self loathing, do not have appreciation for who they are, think that their happiness is others' responsibility, who put ppl on a pedestal and who give so much of themselves but not enough to themselves... I do sometimes have trouble loving others, not because i don't love myself but because I now have high standards and don't want to get disappointed... ( T_T)

@@cosmicseaweed1990 I guess it started with being okay with things, no matter how good or bad they were. I was being so hard on myself, ( I told myself that I deserved this, it was my fault etc) but then I realised, I didn't deserve what happened but it's exactly what i needed to grow And become who I AM today. But yeah, It requires lots of patience. Meditation And positive affirmations helped so much. One thing that I struggled a lot with was Forgiveness, we are taught to forgive others so much that we forget to forgive ourselves... well, hope that helped. ☺️

I feel like over the past decade the world has gone insane, and everyone is so ideologically possessed or deeply indoctrinated and entrenched in systems of mass manupulation (whether organic or artificial), and I worry now I will never find anyone who I can truly connect with on a spiritual level again. I have had to learn to find love within myself, and creativity; which is the only thing that can make me feel as alive as Love itself did.

TO THE CHANNEL HOST: YOU MADE A GREAT AND IMPRESSIVE VIDEO!!! Great topic and really well done. I am 67 years old and I have fallen in love several times in my lifetime. I don‘t think it‘s a choice at all in the initial and middles stages. It‘s outta control stuff, really. The serious ones were cases that I describe (for me) as an illness. An emotional illness that causes one to go mad and do things that aren‘t rational. I sold everything I owned and moved to Egypt 17 years ago. We are still together, I still live in Egypt. Regrets? Some. Sometimes. But, it turned into a destiny. A strange thing, this thing called love.
