Welcome to our channel! In this video, we're excited to unbox and set up the Apimaye ERGO Plus beehive, featuring 10 frames. Watch as we transition our 7 frame colonies, currently housed in the Apimaye 7 frame nuc, into this larger and innovative equipment. Our goal is to provide an unbiased review of beekeeping products to help our bee colonies thrive.
As part of a comprehensive test, we have implemented a unique cart used for small-scale pollination and are measuring the full year survivability of colonies specifically grown in the Apimaye-designed bee equipment. Join us as we document the process, starting from early spring splits to full-sized colonies, and throughout the year, including overwintering on the eastern shore of MD.

FYI. The top latch is there for when you have your feeders or the queen excluder removed and the bottom latch is there for when the feeders or queen excluder present. 👍

I HAVE 6 OF THE NUCS AND THEY ARE GREAT FOR MATING NUCS, YOU NEED TO GET A GOOD LOCK FOR YOUR TRAILOR,

I do. This is in a secure area of my property. The other thing about these trailers is it has a custom Jack to lift it to raise the stabilizers. So unless you have that jack you wont be able to move it.

Nice job, Jason. I have had their tops, bottoms, feeders for years. Used them with the wooden ware. This year I bought their seven frame nucs as well. I’m right at about 85 hives and think I am going to order some more ten frame complete hives like you did. I too have a trailer that I haul some bees to our family land just to help with some crops for my nephew.

I'm curious about the dual Nuc concept. Does the closeness of the entrance to both side be an issue? I've been on the upside down teacup team. I.e. no upper ventilation. So is there a way to block off the upper ventilation? In my LLHs the bees closed off the ventilation I gave them so now I don't bother giving them ventilation. I do give them 2" foam over them year round. I like the trailer. I've been thinking about doing that with one of the Harbor Freight trailers with LLHs.

I really like the Apimaye hive, Insulation is REALLY usefull (especially for Canadian winters) but I can't justify spending this much on boxes :(

It’s definitely an investment. But long term I believe they will outlast some of my woodenware. So there is that long term cost savings. Along with a better winter survival rate ( hopefully) that adds to the cost savings also. So yes it’s an expense up front but long term should work itself out.

That pollination card layout/design is very cool. I was thinking about adding a couple of contingency nucs next spring as I just lost a hive after a failed re-queening. I tried adding a frame of eggs into it from my other hive but the queen didn't return. A couple of contingency nucs would be perfect right now. :) I might be reaching out to you for some equipment. I'm wondering if maybe an Apimaye would be a good choice to be able to overwinter in a nuc.

I overwintered a late season swarm in an Apimaye nuc this past winter. I think it’s great for that purpose.

Where did you get your smoker? I've been trying to find a short one with a cage on the bottom to not melt the lids of my hives but I can't find one like that. Also, I'm in MD so able to drive to pick it up if it's local.

I’ve got the content. But never finished editing. Then other videos and jobs got moved as a priority. I still want to finish it just need to do it.
