I remember when I was a kid and thought that the adults were in charge and knew what they were doing. Then I grew up and realized the adults were always pretending and didn't have any idea what they were doing and had no control at all. They were all just putting on a show for the kids.

@@arkcliref The world is not to be understood. Stay humble youngin. Act as you wish, but understand you are human. Compassion, honor, curiosity, and hate, all examples of human traits. We are composed of atoms as are the trees in our yards. As is the dirt under our toes. As are the letters and the cellular device in which I am communicating this message. Be human. Hug your grandparents. It’ll make you feel love. Avoid those who lie, as it’ll make you feel betrayed to persist tolerance with their activities. We are human. We write alphabets just like the dog licks it’s balls. We are animal, we exist as such. Language, math, religion, no matter how large you go, it is a matter of thought. And thoughts are just as natural as the dirt under our toes.

He got his name from the CGP series of textbook from the UK, which depicts information in bitesize textboxes and fun cartoony drawings and diagrams.

Wow, this is amazing. The reason I love History (and politics to an extent) so much is because it's like epic fantasy stories... except it actually happened. So you covering actual history in the same format you cover fantasy makes sense and works really well, keep it up!

definitely more like this! it's always unexpected and surprising to be reminded how lore and fiction both derive from and influence everyday lived realities - often in unexpected and surprising ways. that said, it may be best to somehow indicate that this video isn't specifically about GoT... i really thought this was about old gods vs new gods or something like that.

i mean, that sounds like repentance to me. realize you're doing something wrong and you need to change? a lot of the details of religions are out of date or even entirely extraneous but the broad strokes shouldn't be dismissed too quickly in my opinion

Godzilla is also a metaphor for nuclear power which is why the early Godzilla movies he is the bad guy, because of the Hiroshima bomb, but in the later movies he is the good guy, because Japan now relies on nuclear power for a huge percent of it's energy.

Why would it be wild? Biological warfare is real, the Chinese government is far less ethical than many other governments on our planet, so why wouldn't the Chinese government try to create a virus like COVID to use as a weapon? @@Nekranon there's honestly so many reasons why this can be debunked, for a start the fact that epidemiologists & pharmacologists across the globe have confirmed that the virus performs badly in laboratory conditions and basically that I if you wanted to mass produce a bio weapon, it makes little sense to use a coronavirus strain in the first place

I want to point out that a big part of ancient Chinese mythology was also a Great Flood, but the cause usually was not said to be supernatural. And the mythical Emperor Yu built dams to stop the floods, founding the Xia dynasty. This mythos is seen as a testament to civilization conquering and regulating nature.

Any flaw in humanity would be an intentional design choice, and any punishment is unfair given such a being would know any and every choice made by humanity before he moved the first atom to create them. Abrahamic "God" is an outdated concept that cannot exist in modern philosophy without a SHIT TON of ret-cons and reinterpretations.

Norway's a fun study in this sort of subject: Our kings were for the most part seen as responsible for disasters *before* the Christening. In Ynglingasaga there's a king called Dómaldi who was sacrificed by bloð* due to bad crops. This was regarded as an ultimate sacrifice, as they had tried sacrificing several other animals before then. Worth remarking is how everything went back to normal in the following crop cycle. *(we presume bloð means to cut their throat on a sacrificial stone and bleed them, and then do rituals with that blood)
