My Tennessee Granny made Sweet Potato Pie 🥧. Mama too. I would eat it for breakfast, lunch, after school and after supper. Mama and Granny both 💕 had large glass pie plates. Mama would made at least 3 pies at one time.

You can cook banana flowers! Also, next time dont cut it until the bananas are bigger. You can cut em off the tree still green, bring em in the house, & just cut them off as they ripen so the critters dont get em 1st if you leave em on the tree. I promise you they are DELICIOUS and way better than regular bananas, just smaller.

Hello Brenda and David it's been awhile since I seen you all on TV I guess you haven't made any videos lately but I was just looking through KZfaq and I seen the one where you was making sweet potato he was getting them out of your garden and my grandma used to do that we used to help her dig them out and it would be so cold outside and we would our hands would freeze it just brought back some memories for for me and I got that all right so bad in my fingers and my hands nowadays it's really hard for me to do anything like that no more I can't evencook Hardly cook no more but I just love to see you all again I'm so glad to see you and I look forward to some more videos lots of love and hugs God bless you.

Wish I could be there eating sweet potato pie and drinking coffee with ya'll. My mammy made these by just cooking the crust fully ; taking the mashed potatoes, adding spices , butter and a tiny amount of milk . Cows milk from our own cows . Put into the crust bake until "dried " off and eat . One time I ate 7 pieces, one after the other , with white syrup on top. I got sick as a dog and couldn't eat it for year's . My momma made them like you just did. I use sweetened condensed milk, leave out the sugar and cream . Delicious , with whipped cream ( actually Cool Whip ) . I believe that I will bake one for Christmas. Do you know how to make a Cherry Cream pie ? I love them but not sure i remember exactly how to do it. Has meringue on it . Happy holidays.

Thank you for sharing this recipe. I am lazy…I cook my sweet potatoes in the crock pot with about an inch of water. Takes about 3 hrs on high. Sometimes I make Pattie’s and freeze them on a baking sheet…then I put them in freezer bags. Then I can have individual servings or I can use several for a pie.

You can eat the heart of that banana blosson raw or cooked .... quite delicous... and of course you can eat or cook the bananas as you would any other... you can fry those green bananas ... yum

If I had those mini bananas I would peel and slice them lengthwise and dredge them in sugar and cinnamon. Then fry them in butter until tender. They would be delicious.

So delicious! I hate cutting up sweet potatoes and squash. Sometimes it's easier to just wrap in foil, roast and then slice in half and scoop out the flesh when cool.

The purple growth under the bananas is called a banana flower or banana blossom. Inside it looks very similar to Palm hearts or artichokes. If left alone it will turn into bananas. It is not sweet and it is used in some different cuisines like African cuisine. Happy Thanksgiving to you all! 🦃

Hi Brenda. I bake my sweet potatoes in the microwave till the doneness I want. Peel and put the chunks in the fpod processor. At this point make your pie or measue the amount needed and freeze. I took a sweet potato pie to our Thanksgiving meal yesterday as well as a big pan of candied sweet potatoes. I used to grow big sweet potatoes like you and keep them all winter and longer. When ever I have more filling than I can use in a pie shell, I bake it in coffee mugs or custard cups. It's still good, even without the crust.

Mrs Brenda Im worried about the way you are walking again the way before you had your knee surgeries Mrs Brenda. Have you gone back for check ups ma'am??? David you know how much pain she was going through before her surgery started helping and I have ptsd so I notice anything new about my people and Mrs Brenda is hurting and she's walking different again David. Pls take her for a check up and xrays because those surgeries can go south on you and Ive been Pray for her knees I didnt want to say anything cuz of Her Poor Mama it breaks my heart about her passing. Can milk is not cream, it's been condensed from milk , I grew up on a large dairy farm , the cream skimmed from the top of raw milk is pure butter fat .

Brenda, I wash my sweet Potatoes and wrap in waxed paper while wet, put-on paper plate and microwave a few minutes, turn over to down side up and microwave until they test soft and done. They steam done quicker if you leave them wet. I have to do this because my arthritis in my hands won't let me cut a hard sweet potato or squashes or anything like that. My granddaughter taught me to use the microwave to do that without boiling them. I love to hear you & David's conversation while making these. David knew when he commented it looked like cat hair that he was going to get a "rise" out of you-he is ornery HaHa. Your pie was so pretty and looked so delicious.

In my home, I moved in five years ago my son was clearing the side yard, pulled up a plant against the house and it was a yucca plant with a yucca into the ground. Yucca is a kind of potato we use in tropical countries. We make some delicious meals with it with cod fish or any other fish.and it's gluten free, about your bananas,you may be able to fry or boil them. We have several different bananas that are sweet but your cook them. So maybe you can try and see one fried one boil. Unless they are regular bananas. Always enjoy your videos.👍👍

My youngest son Now 32 years old had asked me years ago to make one of these, but I still haven't....Sorry Robbie. He is a special needs adult, but he was just a small kid, and music was something he loved. At the time he listened to "Song of the South" by Alabama. He got a kick out of it! I love all of your cooking. My father grew up in Spring Creek , NC, near Hot Springs in athe Western NC mountains.
