Todd, Thank you and especially Joann for sharing the history and allowing us to visit the monument and graves. There is a fellow on line ,Robert Wright, from Georgia, who has Sidestep Adventures and the Old Byrd Farm, websites on You Tube. He visits old and forgotten gravesites and has cleaned Tombstones using a liquid that removes mold and other stuff without damaging the stones, it's called cemetery D2. If you wash off the stones and put this liquid on them, over a period of weeks or months it will clean them , make the writing visible and helping preserve them. Perhaps you or Joann could do that. Who ever stole those plaques was almost as low as the people who desecrated so many old plantation graves in Georgia, even digging them up or cutting down the old trees sheltering them, so sad. The cemetery section that was unkept was sad to see, but I get that resources maybe difficult there. Also sad that people would steal off sacred monuments. Todd Great video!! It's always neat to learn family history. That is better then finding buried history. I wish they would take care of the old cemetery. I'm having that issue with a city that wont let me do anything to clean up an area that has my great (5) grandparents buried. Thanks for the history lesson

They should be careful taking markers, spirits may just follow them home and give them a bad time.

I wonder if these Cochrans are the same family that lived near my childhood home. Near my home, near Connellsville PA, there was a wealthy family named Cochran. They owned coal mines and coke ovens, sold coke and coal to Frick and Carnegie. They built a beautiful church in Dawson, PA which is still in use and a mansion outside of Dawson which still stands named Linden Hall (currently an event center and golf course). There is also the Cochran Cemetery outside of Dawson.

Speaking of the first shots of the revolution. Some say the battle of Point Pleasant in theory should be considered the opening of the revolution. My 5x gg William Clay was one of the 1st to be killed there.

Funny how earlier in the week I had went looking for your channel to see if I had missed any videos since it had been a few weeks & was surprised that I hadn't. Now I see that I'm a few days late on this upload. Great content as usual! I laughed to myself when you found the round item that you thought could have been a buckle & was going to comment that at least it's not a part of a pocket watch & then the next scene is your cousin holding one! 😂 I have to wonder if some of those Martin's are related to me somehow. Most of my paternal grandfather's (Martin) relatives are from Mayodan, NC; my grandmother's (Johnson) is from Rocky Mount, VA. I believe I've mentioned on another video that my maternal grandfather's (Moore) is from Pocahontas, WV around Marlinton & my grandmother's (Bell) is from Covington, VA. We still have property with a cabin in Pocahontas that I've been able to trace back to the 1850's. Haven't had the opportunity to go over to Bath County to do further research since the older records are kept there prior to VA breaking up. Anyway, great content as usual! With all the vandalism of cemeteries and burials lost to time and no family still alive or in the area to care for grave sites it makes it much easier to cement my wish to be cremated. It really saddens me to know that people can think it's a cool thing to desecrate another human's resting place.
