I have been using this battery pack for a couple of months now and I have done a lot of testing with it to show how it is different from the other MagSafe battery packs and how most people aren't understanding how it's meant to be used.

yepp I agree with you.. the battery pack is not a powerbank like where you use it to charge your phone to full... its made for working with your phone as an extender.. thats why they limit the charge to 90% and you can allow it on the setting if you want go to 100%... so the use case will be the phone will use the battery pack first then after it depleted it will switch to built in one...

I’ve just ordered the Anker one after using the official Apple for over a year. And honestly, the Apple one while better integrated, is such a let down. Am hoping for a V2 sooner or later that fixes many of the issues.

I’ve just bought this today, been on my phone which was at 90% at 9pm it’s now 1 am and the phone is still at 90 % the Battery pack is at about 70%…if someone said give me 100 pound and your phone will last twice as long for the next 4 years I would have their hand off…it’s a fantastic bit of kit..I hadn’t even heard of it until the other day..now I don’t think I will go a day without it..and no I have no connection with apple or anything..it just works so well

True, but it's sooo uncomfortable caring your phone all day with that thing on its back (especially if you have the Max..) I use it when the battery is low, as a normal power bank and it is just fine

Yep, it serves both purposes. It’s just that people say it sucks or isn’t as good as the other ones in the market, but the truth is that they just don’t know how it’s meant to be used. But you can use it either way for sure.

it's just suppose to sustain the phones battery until the battery pack dies

Basically what it does. Most people, however, look at it as a recharging device instead of a sustainment device.

Nice explanation! Do you think is it alright to keep the battery pack on the phone always? Like never take it off. And charge via the battery. Will it actually good for the battery health? Tx

I don’t think it’s bad for the battery, since Apple has the technology to protect it, especially with its own products.

Would this battery pack be an option if I’m out and about using my phone and it drops to 50%, connect the magsafe power bank and keep going about my day? Or is it better to have it connected when the phone is 100%?

I believe the most efficient way to use it is to hook it up to your phone when you’re at 90-100% and it’ll maintain the battery there until the battery pack dies. But if you’re in a pinch, you can attach it when your battery is low for a boost. The battery works best as an extender, though. If you’re looking for a battery pack to just recharge the phone, there’s a few others I’d recommend.

@@Brians_tech I know the Apple battery pack has less capacity that other third party options, but I just want something small to extend/charge my phone when I'm out and about and realize that I will not be close to charger for a while.

Why is it that when I put the battery pack on my iPhone when it's 100% it slowly decreases and doesn't charge? Sometimes there's more than 80 left and it doesn't charge. What's the cause? Do you have this problem? How did you fix it?

Make sure you watch the full video. The battery pack is smart and drops your phone down and then MAINTAINS the battery. It will drain the phone a bit, then the battery pack all the way, and then continue using the phone's battery.

Will we be able to use it as a magsafe charger once the battries degrade after say 2 years?? Also does apple show its battery health as well??

I don't see why you couldn't. As long as the battery pack still works, it'll charge your phone. And not as far as I know, they don't show it's battery health.

So what is the best way to charge it? Should it be charged with an iPhone attached to it? Or charge separately? And if with an iPhone attached with it, should it be charged in the battery pack itself or directly to iPhone? Confusing hahaha.

Honestly there is no best way. Because they’re both Apple products, they use their technology to intuitively charge the phone and battery pack. Which ever way you do it, there’s no wrong answer. I prefer to charge them separately but I also don’t use the battery pack daily.

I am not getting the option in low power mode in notification centre to toggle Charge past 90 to on/off. By default its charging more than 90 on my iphone 12!

There’s no option really. The battery pack and iPhone take care of it themselves.

may I ask what you do with your 14 pro max on daily basis that require this attached on the phone for extra hours? it just seems weird to me that people choose this over a power bank that probably charge 20-80% only need less than a hour.

It’s a battery extender so a bit different of a use case. And with my 14 pro max when I had it, the battery life was terrible. I’d have to recharge halfway through the day. I’m a power user so my phone would die quickly. Now on the 15 pro max, it’s much better so I don’t use it as often, but if I know I’m going to have a really long day, I’ll still throw it on there.

I have an iPhone 15 pro max. The phone went from 80% to 89% and the battery pack from 46% to 20% ? Is it normal ??

Yep that’s normal. It’s gonna try to get your iPhone up to around 91% or so (maybe a few less) and then continue to use the battery pack until it dies. The iPhone and battery pack communicate to make sure it’s doing everything correctly. You shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

Yes it will work with any iPhone that has MagSafe and wireless charging or an iPhone that has wireless charging with a MagSafe case.

Have you seen the Best Buy essentials magsafe battery pack? I haven’t seen many reviews on it. It’s 35 bucks. I wonder how it would compare to the apple pack or the otterbox you have

Does the battery pack keep charging your iPhone even if it's already charged to 100%? I've been seeing a lot of these comments on Reddit.

So what happens is it lets your battery go down to 91% or so. Then it uses the battery pack to keep your phone at 91% so it’s not full and not draining your battery. It uses the battery pack up until it dies and uses your phone battery.

Ok so if I use it at 66% will it charge or just stay at 66% until battery pack is drained?

No. It will bring it up to 91% gradually so it's not too draining on the battery pack and will maintain it there until the battery pack dies.

So the new is coming out when? I think it will be USB C already. But if you are like me who will use it for any iPhones except the 15 series, better to take that old one with lightning charging. Rather than keeping cables with USB C for the pack and lightning for the mini.

Try to do it at 100% on both the battery and the iPhone and see what happens.

It shouldn’t. Apple makes them to be able to be used every day and for long periods of time. Now charging any device, after a certain period of time, the battery health will go down no matter what. But this won’t speed up the battery degradation.

Interesting ... sub :P I got Anker MagGo 633 charging station, and I can agree the anker charges my Mini 13 too fast ... So I guess for the battery longevity apple's one is better.

Thanks for subscribing! I really like Anker products. A lot of my charging bricks are Anker and I have a few Anker charging stations. The Apple one just maintains the battery so it may be more efficient for your phone. Also Apple will always make sure their OEM products work at least a little bit better than the rest of the market 😉

Personally, I prefer a battery pack just because you can take it off at any time and you can switch cases without worrying about leaving your charging case at home.
