The fact that no one ever says you can update your magsafe battery pack with a regular lightning cable and a slightly older mac that doesn't have "USB-C" connectivity is a conspiracy theory that Apple is just forcing people to upgrade their hardware. how? It takes a week to install an update via your iPhone 12/13? Sounds like apple punishing us for not having a new iMac, MacBook Pro, or a USB-C enabled iPad. The tech used in the MagSafe battery and an iPhone is just NFC technology. Anyone who's used a tap to pay, or a Nintendo 3DS/Switch knows that the NFC is more than capable of transmitting decent amounts of data between devices. So apple forcing people to upgrade every bit of their tech so it can work flawlessly between them seems like a shady way for apple to make mass amounts of revenue every year. Which translates to more e-waste our poor planet doesn't need.. :/

I think Apple should add a button to do it from your phone. Some of us unfortunately don’t have an iPad or Mac as a secondary device. Though I borrowed my buddies and it updated in minutes. Thanks for all the videos you put out. You always do a great job.

If you don't have at your disposal an Ipad or Mac and don't know no one that could help you with their device you could always show up at an Apple Store, not the best option but they shouldn't deny you help to update it, and there are plenty of ipads and macs in a store, so if that's your last chance do it if you don't mind

I have neither an iPad or a Mac. So I had to opt for the ‘attach, wait (and hope!) method. Started on Monday evening and discovered it had updated by Wednesday morning. It really is a daft way to do things. So, yes! It needs a button!!! Thanks for the directions and making them so accessible. I would never have thought to search Apple support to see how this is done otherwise. 👍🏽

To be honest, I plugged my MageSafe Battery onto my phone. I left it on there all night and it updated with no issues and I didn’t have to plug it into a iPad. Just being honest, I mean it worked out well for me

So there is no way to do this through windows :( for us who don't have all apple devices, we should have the option to manually initiate an update check through software without leaving it on the back of your phone. it makes no sense but then again we're talking about apple here, most things they do, don't make much sense when it comes to anything on the backend of things.

Why won’t you just connect the battery pack to the iphone using the lightning cable?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated. I have a Magsafe battery pack which I bought from Apple so I know it's legit. It won't update to the latest firmware version, it's been permanently attached to the back of my phone for around six weeks now and no update. I have tried to update it using a MacBook and after 50 mins it still hasn't updated. I've been in touch with apple support and also back to the apple store but no one seems to be able to help. I have noticed that if I leave it attached to my phone while I charge it the battery pack is viable from the widget but it disappeares from the about section in settings. IPhone 14pro max has latest update so any help please

hey man just received my bettery pack and lucky its the actual firmware.... to be honest waiting one week connected to the phone sounds terrible compared to connectin it ti an ipad but for real that this happens automatically is fkn awesone.... im a freshi to ios or apple phones but im after three days of lerarning ios im in love and would never go back to anrdoid.... apple is just awesome
