Applying a Mist Coat to New Plastered Walls

8 ай бұрынYou'd be forgiven to think that you can just apply an emulsion straight onto freshly plastered walls, because they are so smooth!
Well, the moisture in the paint gets instantly sucked into the plaster, and this causes the paint to easily peel off the wall once dry.
So you need to start with a mist coat; a watered down emulsion that prevents too much paint from being applied.
After the mist coat, apply at least *2 coats as normal.
*Based on how strong the colour change is.

Spot on. If spraying it you can thin it more so it soaks in by itself. When brushing and rolling you're pushing it into the surface yourself.

I allways use contract Matt for mist coating. Cheaper and does the job just fine.

The paint won't adhere to the wall very well, and it'll start to peel off

Was always told to use watered down PVA to freshly plastered walls, is this no longer a thing?

Never ever do that...just add water to matt trade contract emulsion, pva creates a skin so your only adhering the paint ro the pva not the actual.wall, this could lead to peel off down the line..

Omg... Don't do that. It's never been a thing. PVA isn't Alkali resisting and new plaster is an alkaline surface! Never used pva

Cheap job , cheap emulsion with 20% water 😆😂😂😂 paint will flake within 3 years!!.. isomat 2 in 1 ya cheap skate..

As good as isomat is, this way is fine if you're a good decorator!
