Nice, thanks for the demo. I think that the thin packing tape I have will work great, and I'm going to try it with a clear background for a window! I like the way you are using the water color paper, too, these would make beautiful tags for journals. Thank you for the idea with the Sizzix. I am considering one of those.

Beautiful idea...I've had problelms before with static when applying tape. Have you tried a small strip of double-sided tape on the back or sticky dots? They help me, I find. Thanks for your inspiration and investigative video. They're beautiful and unique!

Hi! Wondered is using a heat tool/hair dryer would help smooth the tape as well as shrink seal it a little more...at least on your buttercups to fix the error a bit? Looked ok to me though! Thx for the handy tip! Pkg tape is my go-to craft/Handywoman all-purpose supply! I cant wait to try this on my beautiful flower bouquet that hubby got for my b-day yesterday..what a fantastic usable way to recycle/repurpose my flowers and sprigs! 😉😁 ( for my crafting)

Hello...came across this looking for ideas to use my pressed flowers in card making....I am also a stamper....there's a product called an antistatic bag that we apply to paper before stamping when we plan on heat embossing. It prevents the embossing powder from flying all over with the static electricity.....it's not expensive, under $10, just pounce the bag over your paper and it removes the static. I wonder if applying it to the watercolor paper before laying flowers down would remove the static electricity problem??? Haven't tried it yet but will be trying the packing tape method as soon as I get some tape..
@emsplace
@emsplace 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura, that's a great idea to try. I don't have one of those antistatic bags but know what you are talking about. I wonder if a dryer sheet would work? Have to give that a try. Let me know what you find out with the packing tape. Thank you for watching, Em

Hi Christal, appreciate the interest. Most of those background papers are from my original eco prints. I do offer them from time to time in my Etsy shop. I just sold out the last batches offered, and hope to add more in the future. This is the section I post the paper packs in www.etsy.com/shop/emsplacegifts?ref=seller-platform-mcnav&section_id=25202114 if you want to check there once in a while. Thank you for watching:-)

curious how long you've been doing this. Have you been able to test yellowing of the packing tape over time?
@emsplace
@emsplace 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Grace, While I have been pressing flowers over 40 years, I have only tried packing tape over the last several years. I have not noticed the packing tape turning yellow the way resin can. On the other hand, I have used the contact paper I talk about for decades and have never noticed yellowing to any extent. But really, since nothing lasts forever, I suppose each brand or decade can usher in variants that may have a different result. Thank you for asking and for watching:-)

How would a matte sheen do?
@emsplace
@emsplace 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, matte sheen should be fine. I use protectants from matte up to glossy and all inbetween. Just depends upon the product and the look I want for a finished piece. Experiment to see what works for you:-) Thank you for watching, Em

Would you consider Archival Tape for your beautiful pressed flowers? Ordinary tape disintegrates over time.
@emsplace
@emsplace Жыл бұрын
Hi, appreciate the complement. Yes if promoting for archival purposes that is a wise thing to use. Personally, I am not making or promoting things for the 50-100+/- year longevity, so don't always have a concern in that regard. I will try to use archival materials first depending upon the item or project. I have items in my personal collection that are more than twenty-thirty years old and are still fine. I figure if pressed items last that long I am very happy. When I sell items, if I know it is archival I will promote and price accordingly. Otherwise my items last for may years and prices reflect that. The reality is that natural materials like flowers will deteriorate or fade over time and not intended for museum or archival longevity. This is a subject that creators have to decide upon based on their own situation and intended use or audience. Now if I was a Claude Monet, for example, I would go out of my way to make sure every aspect was archival and my prices would bare that in mind:-) Thank you for watching

Would putting a tiny dab of glue on the petals keep them from lifting?
@emsplace
@emsplace Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes in some cases that works good. In some cases, for example with sheer flowers, you may be able to see the glue spot depending upon where the glue is placed. Experiment and see how it works for your projects. IMHO, playing around to see what happens is half the fun:-) Thank you for watching, Em

Where did you buy your cutter?
@emsplace
@emsplace 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the die cutter I use is an old version of this one amzn.to/3c359TE There are different kinds, so look around for something in your budget and preference. I really like my cutter, but consider that you also need to buy the dies to cut shapes, in addition to a cutter machine, for example amzn.to/3wH8Rub I have built up a collection over time. They also work with embossing folders if that is of interest. For example amzn.to/3vATrHE or amzn.to/34uVUri Please note any Amazon links are affiliate links. Thank you for watching, Em

Wouldn't packing tape yellow over time?
@emsplace
@emsplace 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, While most things can yellow over time - think vintage - I have not noticed any issues with either the packing tape, hot laminate or contact paper I use, looking at the items I have in my keepsakes for many years. It also depends upon how they are used and stored. For example sunlight is the worst and will have the fastest affect. Thank you for watching, Em

Excellent, during childhood education seeing my cousin's science records. I used to press beautiful flowers and beautiful stem and leaves each separately in a thicker like laminated polished societ Russia magazine placing heavy objects over the book after 20 to 25 days the flowers and leaves will be flat like a paper .I used to join the beautiful flowers with beautiful leaves with stem using natural tree gum in such a way that no one could find out the flowers leaves are different varieties and paste them in a science records book.but most them will be weeds and crotons variety all beautiful ,the gardeners will help me for getting permission and plucking neatly tidy and gently. Kindly show your methods of pressing flowers for tropical regions countries

Hii I have a question can you pls help me?? I saw you are replying to all the comments so... Can I preserve flower or rose petals WITHOUT drying them? I don't want to press the flowers What if I put fresh flowers in cellotape?Will this turn brown over time?
@emsplacelive9695
@emsplacelive9695 19 күн бұрын
Hi, appreciate your interest. If you put fresh botanicals directly under/in tape they will turn brown. You really need to press them (traditionally, in a microwave press or iron to dry them first) or dry them is silica gel. Note that different botanicals do better with certain methods of drying - so experiment with whatever flower/leaf you are wanting to use. But I am not expert, so try it to see what happens. Would you do a short with no talking please I'm sorry I just need a quick how to video
@emsplace
@emsplace Жыл бұрын
Hi, here is a quick version with no video required. Simply place a flower on a piece of packing tape, put another piece of packing tape on top, and cut to desired configuration. Or, put a flower on a background, put the packing tape on top and cut to shape as needed. An option for this video - go to the cog and put at a 1.5 or 2x playback speed. That way you can get through it in less time and still get all the content. Or you can mute the video's sound if you don't want to hear talking. Thank you for watching, Em
