I saw gilded leaves in a shop yesterday and they were $17 each. I said to myself that I can do that I just have to find a way. THANK YOU for showing me the way and I already own the supplies from card making!

Thanks you very helpful. I have pressed dried leaves and flowers recently, and gilding flakes from years ago in my cabinet, but never thought to combine the two ! 😊

Hi Em! Love your videos. Where do you get your beautiful cabachons for your resined pieces. I’ve been looking at your videos in random order. But there was a video where you had a lovely cabachon with tiny crystals embedded in the metal. Thank you! Connie Mussey

Hi Em, I just love your tutorials, thank you for sharing all of your wonderful knowledge with us. In this video I believe you briefly mentioned that you have a different video or method that details how to preserve hydrangea leaves so that they won't turn brown, if not, do you have any advice on how to achieve that? Thanks much.

Hi, thank you for the kind words. I find Hydrangea leaves to be difficult. Sometimes they will make it without turning brown - for example some I did a few weeks ago came through, but they were smaller less mature ones. The large ones hardly ever make it. I have not tried the microwave or iron, so that may something to test. Thank you for watching, Em

Can you also guild the back side, after the front side is done?… and maybe resin them, or glossy mod podge them after to make them strong enough for a Christmas tree ornament? Thanks! Your book “log” of botanicals is insanely gorgeous! WOW! Thank you so much! - Messy Mendy 🌿🌺🖌🙏🏻

Hi Mandy, yes you can also guild the back side once the front is dry. I would think resin or other mediums on top would work out fine. Do a small test on something that is not too important just to be sure. But in general, what you talk about should work and be very pretty:-) Thank you for watching, Em

beautiful, thank you. what kind of paper do you use to press and cardboard?
@emsplace
@emsplace 3 жыл бұрын
Any absorbent paper (not wax or parchment since they don't absorb moisture). The cardboard I just purchase from Amazon or cut from discarded boxes. Thank you for watching, Em

Do you keep the excess flakes for next projects? or they can't be used after being brushed off?
@emsplace
@emsplace 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes you save the excess flakes. I just put them in a container that saves the left overs, and use them for projuects when I have enough. Nothing goes to waste:-) Thanks for watching, Em

Em, Can you gild a leave such as lambs ear, that has a sort of velvet texture to it?
@emsplace
@emsplace 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Crystal, I have that plant in my garden and if I had to guess, I think the texture wouldn't be the best. When in doubt, give it a try:-) Would be interesting to see what happens. Also, even if the coverage was uneven or didn't stay on some places, maybe the result would be really nice for some uses. Thanks for watching, Em

Hi, Ems. Did you add water to your water based one? I bought a "water based adhesive" and it says to add 10%-20% water. I just don't know if I can store it in a glass container or plastic container after I mix it with water.
@emsplace
@emsplace Жыл бұрын
Hi, None of the adhesives I use for guilding needs to be diluted. Mostly I use the adhesive from LA Gold Leaf and they have the water base a an oil base, so I am not sure what type of adhesive you have. If you add any water, try a small test batch to see what happens. With anything dried, the less added water the better. Not just any adhesive works for leafing - so experiement with a few items to see if it works. Thank you for watching, Em

Hi,I have a question, I want to use glossy paper to cover pressed flowers cards,but there are many kind of glossy paper,which glossy paper is the best suitable? Thanks
@emsplace
@emsplace 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, since there are many kinds of glossy paper, I would try some out and see what you think. There really is no right or wrong, just see what you like based on what you have. For me, it depends upon if it has adhesive - for example a laminate or contact paper, or if it doesn't - for example acetate. I use both. The only time I have to be cautious if I have color enhanced the botanical. In that case some adhesives will cause the color to bleed (especially alcohol markers) under the covering - so do some testing in that case. When no adhesive type covering (laminates and contact papers as an example) is involved between the cover material and the flower/leaf then that is not a concern. Play around... Thanks for watching, Em
