from what I've read it is a british movie with british actors, they all just put on American accents because they could market it better over seas. Caroline Munro even puts on her best American accent in it

This movie was originally going to be called April Fool's Day, but it was changed because there was another horror movie with the same title.

there were three movies in 1986 that were going to be titled “april fool’s day” the one we all know and love came out first, so the other two had to change their names to “slaughter high” and “killer party”

indeed Manfredini is a genius. Did he do this one then? I loved his work in Friday the 13th 1-8 and Swamp Thing. Not certain a devout horrorphile like myself has even seen this movie. Must fix that.
