I bought my betta fish yesterday on an impulse because I was feeling super depressed. My little Saffron (that's his name haha) has made me happy since then. Every time I see him he puts a smile on my face, and when I go to check on him, he swims in front of me like he's saying hi. I never thought I would love a fish, but I do with this little guy

I have a black orchid named Dino. Dino Martino. He has survived a bus ride, a back pack ride, two curious cats, 3 days of unheated tap water, all in a cup that was sometimes placed on a speaker playing rock music at volume 11. He was bought from a pet store as a birthday gift to me by someone with good intentions and zero instructions on how to keep fish. I was shocked to receive a betta as a gift and had to spend a lot of time and money on a good home for him and saving him from ick. His spirits were always good with healthy appetite throughout. Tough little fella. He's now healthy and thriving in a 5 gallon planted tank with a snail. I'll be setting up a heavily planted 20 gallon soon because he likes to play hide n seek. The longer it takes for me to find him the more excited he gets when he comes out. He's very entertaining and charming. That's why I named him after Dean Martin.

Man, I walked into my local PetSmart and was starting at the betta fish. This one, in particular, stood out to me. The next thing I know, I’m buying an all-in-one fish tank starter kit, food, and conditioner. It will be my first fish, but I’m super excited.

Just got our first betta a few days ago. The last of our guppies finally passed away a couple of weeks ago so we opted for a betta this time around. He has a whole 20-long gallon aquarium all to himself and I'm pretty sure he's stoked to be out of that tiny plastic store cup. 😊❤

I saved Koi from a petco store…almost dead and with zero experience in fish I gave it a try… went on a deep research and Koi is now 7 months with us and so healthy and happy! He went from literally not eating for a whole week when I first got him to now he flares and gets super exited to eat! He is in a 6 gallon now by himself but very nice tank with plenty of live plants! Im giving him the best years he has left as much as I can… I hate the pet industry and how bad they treat bettas…

I got a male betta fish a few days ago!! He is named Calcifur! He has made me so happy I suffer with ptsd and have struggled with depression. I was looking at all the fish at Petsmart and how there in the little containers obviously I wanted all of them but this one stood out to me. He looked like he was having a panic attack and anxiety “ which I struggle with” I knew I had to get him to a bigger space and more comfortable!! And went to get all his tank, conditioner and plants and I got a cool skull he can swim and sleep in to hide when he’s tired. He has been so Awesome.. I love the little dude. It’s like he waves at me with his little fin! And he comes to the front of the tank and looks at me. I have a little small stool next to his tank and I sit and talk with him several times a day. He loves to get fed I can’t wait to build an amazing bond with my lil Calcifur. I got him with my boyfriend and he’s our little baby lol!

My neighbors find it hard to believe that a fish could be intelligent! I proved them otherwise. They are in fact fun and creative and respond very well when I visit mine in the large bowl. He always greets new strangers by coming up to them and showing off! They are amazed now and come over to visit him often!

To add onto this, always have them in a 5gal tank or more. Some can be in 3.7gal tanks but it would need to be cleaned more often unless there’s live plants and can’t have tank mates. And bettas can have tank mates such as neon tetras, corydora and some more. There’s videos about it. Never keep multiple male bettas or mixed genders (both male and female) in a tank together because they’re very territorial. For tank mates, I also recommend snails such as mystery snails. You can have multiple females which is called a sorority, but some can show signs of aggression so keep an eye on them. But every betta is different so ALWAYS have a backup tank if the betta gets stressed or too aggressive towards the other fish. And always have a soft filter because they don’t like the water to be too fast. And heater because they’re tropical fish unless you live in a warmer environment then have a thermometer on the tank and have a backup heater in case it gets cold at night or weather changes. Make sure you do research on animals before buying and remember, just because they’re fish, doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings. Enjoy fishkeeping :) ❤

Some betta varieties bond more easily than others. The veiltail betta, in my opinion, is the most friendly and sociable of all bettas. Crowntail bettas are the hardest to bond with. They are more aggressive than other varieties and more aloof. I’ve been keeping bettas for over 30 years.

Was talking to a guy, he got me two betta fish as a gift because I love fish. Not the best gift because I was not ready for them but I instantly fell in love with them. Named one Navy and the other Prismarine. I talk to them all the time and I think they’ve learned their names. I’ve never loved a pet more and whenever I talk about them to my friends I refer to them as my sons.

I went to the local petshop today to get some things for my 16 liter tank And I saw the betta fish and had a good long look at them.. there was this particularly striking bright red one that seemed to taking interest in me It only made me even more excited about getting a betta after my tank has cycled

Ever since I was little, I’ve always loved animals. My mom would always take me to the pet store to look at the animals. Most kids would immediately run to the cats, dogs, guinea pigs, etc. But with me, it was always the fish. Especially betta fish. I was really impressed by their stunning colors, and float fins. My parents don’t really like pets. But also, they thought I couldn’t care for animals at such a young age. So of course, I didn’t get them. 😢 That is until earlier this year, I got my first betta a beautiful deep turquoise color, shimmering scales. I called him Indigo. Unfortunately, he died within a couple months due to his very old age. Because he was rather old, we didn’t really “bond” but letting him go was still very tough for me. But I’m currently keeping my little koi betta, Scarlet under better conditions. I learned through keeping Indigo, that I made a lot of mistakes. When I got Scarlet, she was sold under “female” not “baby” but I noticed she was waaaaaaaaaaay smaller than all the other fish. And I did some research and realized that she was a baby. I’m basically “raising” her. We really do share a special bond. I never thought I could love a little 2 inch fish so much. Edit: sorry for the essay sort of thing.😅😂

Loving my new little betta

One of my plaket koi boi bettas live in a 29gallon with endler guppies, corydoras, and a bristlenose pleco. He doesn't even go after the endler guppy fry. I have another plaket koi boi, who lives with a nerite snail in a 5.5gallon, as he's more the aggressive type. Bettas are so misunderstood, thank you for your videos. Many people don't realize the personality, or brains that little bettas have!

I bought a 55 gallon tank and filled it with mollies, platy, guppies, pleco, Cory, cichlids, angelfish, crabs, female bettas, 3 male betta and a lobster. They’re so cute. I’m going for 4 months now with no casualties 😇🥰

Talk/sing to them, they follow my finger, they know it's feeding time & come excited when I sing the McDonald's "fishy fishy" commercial, & my Bettas have always let me touch them. BUT I had no idea about these hoops & other tricks & games for them. That's pretty dope. My guy's 3yrs old now & just got popeye. Treating it now. Hopefully it doesn't kill him. My Raspberry boy has a big personality. He greets you when you come up to the tank, he comes to the glass. He likes when you sing to him, and when you doodle on the tank glass with dry erase markers.

My buddy Reddiy. Of course i named him! Girlfriend calls his name out loud everytime she see's him. The truth to this little interaction is super for his health. He is a pure red, pretty common among the betta colors but gosh. Saved him from a cup from others at Petco. He is in a 4 gallon starter right now but soon a 10 gallon soon with some friends that will keep him company. Such a awesome fish, and a real pet, for sure.

My Hector lives with other larger fish like manacapuru angel-fish and gouramis and tetra, and he is the boss :-) He takes up the space he wants, for ex. in the front glas of the tank and shares it with angels. No fish reacts on this jackanapes. Nor he flares at any fish. I'll work on bonding with him even more, so much fun!

My Husband and I just got a new Crown tail we named Ace he’s orange and purple/ blue! Our older beta Steve passed away a couple of months ago he was a half moon that was red and dark blue. We named him after Captain America. It’s taken us a long time to move past him and be able to love another. He was very old and didn’t like people but Ace is seeming to be just the opposite. I can’t wait to socialize with him, I can already tell he is going to love all the attention! 💕💕

A few months ago, I had four bettas that didn't like pellets; they forced me to feed them bloodworms, making a bond without realizing it. Now they're dead, and I bought new bettas that can be fed with pellets. I had been thinking for a couple of days, "Am I missing something? It feels different." This video reminded me of what I had been missing.

I’m planning on putting mine, when I get him, in a 15g with plants, rocks and driftwood. They live in streams as well as rice paddies and have lots of space to swim in the streams. If you think about it they have a lot of room in a flooded rice paddy as well.

Im telling you, 5 gallons or higher and your betta will shine! And if you can. Live plants that you need to trim are worth getting because it will slightly change your tank enough to keep them interested yet not stressed over change.

I already named two beta fish that I have exotic and sushi. Sushi is a half moon Dumbo Betta fish. And exotic is a mustard Betta Fish, which is a rare find because mustard beta fishes are bread and 12 years, which is a rare find so mustard beta fish are rare I have never taken care of a rabbit, a fish before.

I bought my favorite girl on a whim, she had no color and was small but i could tell she would be beautiful bc she was labeled “koi” i made a lot of mistakes but she was very strong and resilient my god did she have an attitude, she ate her shrimp roomate and terrorized the snail…war criminal😂 she always came up to say hi to me and followed my fingers, jumped for her food and talked back to me, overall very attentive. My fishes tank is in the kitchen and he loves it we recently moved into a house it was my grandmas old house she sadly passed away a few months ago but my room is smaller thats why hes in the kitchen we can't fit his tank in my room but the living room is connected to the kitchen so there's a lot going on and i already sometimes write on the tank😂

I hear different debates whether you can keep male and females together in a tank. I know you cannot do two males. So I bought a female to keep my male company. After a little minor domestic violence, they had babies. Since adding a new female into the mix, the male does not bother the old female as much and is nicer to her but seems to bother the newer female more. Also, I needed to put the 4 leftover babies (8 months old) that I separated back into the original tank because of a deadly accident in their tank. They got along fine. What was interesting is the new adult female would chase them a little bit (but not bite) but the two parents of them seemed to just pass by and not bother them. Their mom would move close to them but slowly and not do any sudden jumps. Very interesting. I am looking to breed some more.

Betta fish are very smart i teached 4 of my Betta fish to understand when it is feeding time they always get excited when i come near the tank however including with my zebra danios in the tank they know when i tap to the glass it is feeding time,they all come to the top of the tank and wait for the food. )). When i first tried this after they were used to the tank,they all were a bit scared and ran away but after a week they all started to come to the top and were excited rather than stressed,if you want to try this please don't do this before they are really used to their new environment,they will be 2× stressed. If you want to be sure if this is safe,i really have no idea,but i did add new female bettas to the tank after some passed away and they got into it after about 3-4 days, they might have seen others and understood sooner or i might have got lucky. 😊

Whenever I move my finger near the tank my betta fish slowly goes to it and if I move my finger too quickly he backs up as if he just said “Oh what’s thi- IT MOVED”

Beta are easiest fish to have next to the corydoras 👍🏼 i have one elephant beta with 8 corydoras in a 29 gallon tank with plants and they love it also they get fed live and dry food

I have had my male halfmoon betta for a year and a half. He's a striking blue with seafoam green reflective scales, a black face, and blue / red ombre fins under his belly. His name is Kingdra. He spends most of his time hiding in a sunken barrel decoration i put in his tank. Then in a separate tank, I have a female veiltail betta that I've had for about a year now. She's mostly purplish on her body with a white face, but her fins are literal rainbows (blue-green-purple-red ombre.) She is the most beautiful little fish I have ever seen, and super charismatic/high energy. She watches me like a hawk lol. Her name is Baby :) I love my fishies

I've had a few betta fish before. but 2 years ago i stopped and gave my fish to my friend because i got busy. and 3 weeks ago i got a new one. usually when i get a new fish, it took me like a month to bond with them. they'll follow my fingers whenever i slide it against the tank. but this new one, he gets scared veryyyyyyy easily. when i first get him, he flinch so hard whenever i turn to look at him. I'm not sure why. and he also gets scared if i put my finger against the tank. i tried the feeding method where i put my fingers above the water. waited so long for him to jump out and eat the food but he didn't. he ignore it when he realized I'm not putting that food into the tank. but he's very active tho. he gets veryyy excited whenever i came into the room. and he also react to the word "hello!" but only if say it in a happy tone, if that makes sense 😭🙏 I'm trying to get him to be comfortable with me but it's harder compared to my previous betta. i wonder what makes him so scared of everything. oh and he also made a lot of bubbles. I've never have this kind of betta before😭😭 my previous betta made bubbles too but not too much like this one.

Hi, Tamil. Thanks for imformative videos. I have been searching a lot lately for checking out what can I do for my betta fish. And here I find you and your other videos... if you can, I hope to get advice from you. I have been taling care of betta fishes for more than years now. They are all active and healthy, lived in 2L pond, and fully change water once in 3days. Where I live has strong four seasonal changes so I added up some heater to maintain 26"c and lights. one of them was having a lump near it's gill and died. breeder was assuming he died due to genetic problem. other one died due to constantly ripped fins.. two of them were white- colored baby. and my oldest navy baby is only betta child now.. i feed him about 6-8 round food once a day.. I see his fin being wonkey and lately spending lots of time at the bottom of the tanks.. I have small filter for him too for a while and he is active when I'm around him. He does flare when he see the mirrors too. but he is not much likely active.. is there any advice or help you can give me? thank you so much..

So umm yea I just got a bata I don't know much but when I got him he was in moldy water with plastic plants the water was green. I now have him in a clean take I give him good food he needs time to recover from the moldy water but how do I know if he's happy because he flairs when I feed him he doesn't like anything I gave him. Give him more time?

They're All Male, Their Name's Are Bailu, Ariel And Bubblethobic. Bailu Has A Little Place That Has Less Rock's That Make's it Look Like A Little Hole-Curve And He LOVE'S Sleeping in it. We Dont Have Any Toy's For Our Betta Since Last Time We Put Some Plant's in The Tank's They Tried Eating Them. We Feed Them Proccesed Fish 2 Piece's Daily, Sometimes Even 3. We Change 40% Of Their Aquarium Water Once A Week And They Dont Have A Filter. i Made Bailu Learn To Follow My Finger, To identify My Face As The Owner And To Go Up if i Raise My Hand. Bailu is Healthy So Far And Has Good Eyesight. Ariel Has A Clay House He Love's Sleeping in And He is More Of A Confused Fish Than Playful. We Cant Find A Clay House For Bailu So We Count That Curve-Hole As His Little Place. Am i Treating My Betta Right?
