How to teach 5 tricks to your betta fish, starring my betta, Akila. :)
***Note: These tricks were taught and filmed over several days. Please don't try to teach all this at once. Bettas can only eat small amounts of food at a time.
Also, I appreciate the concern over Akila. She had an egg belly at the time when this was filmed, which is normal from time to time for female bettas. She's a happy and healthy girl, and her belly was back to normal after a week or so. :)
I'm feeding mostly peas in the video, they are one of her favorite foods. :) We also use NorthFin betta pellets, which are small and also work well for training.
~~~~~~~~~
These tricks are typically pretty easy to teach, although the hoop and tunnel tricks tend to take a bit more time to totally master.
I also have tutorials on my channel showing how to make a hoop, tunnel, and target stick for your fish.
How to make a hoop with a stand: • How to Make a Fish Hoo...
How to make a tunnel: • How to Make a Tunnel a...
How to make a target stick: • How to Make 2 Easy Tar...
Also, a video of my new koi betta Stryker's very first training session: • First Betta Fish Train...
Thanks for watching!
IMPORTANT NOTE: This video was filmed over the course of a few days. DO NOT try to do this in one day. That is way too much food for the betta, and if you overfeed him/her, they CAN die.
Just FYI for anyone trying the hoop or tunnel trick! Make sure that whatever material you make it out of is either soft or sanded before putting it in the tank! Bettas have VERY delicate fins! Other than that, great video! I’ve taught my betta all of these and after 2 years he still remembers them! And despite what you say in the description, I honestly found that my betta picked up on the hoop trick within minutes!
You can switch up their diet and feed them different types of foods, like flakes, freeze dried bloodworms or peas. They can eat a little more of those foods than the pellets. Also, training sessions should only be a couple minutes long, so they shouldn't be overfed. Just use the same amount of food during training that you would normally feed them. :)
Y’all need to get on my level smh. I’ve taught mine how to speak eight different languages and breakdance. He’s also a very talented music producer and underground rapper, mind you. Stage name’s DJ Pellet
This is adorable!!! I wish my betta Sushi is not sick so I can do these with him. I taught him a trick before he got swim bladder disease and it was when I would put my finger in front of him through the glass and shake it. He would then move his head in the same motion. Every time he did it he got food and he then began to do it before feeding time.
