I'd like to ad that in certain situations you can have air in the system formed by cavitation at the impeller. This is caused bij restrictions on the vacuumend (intake) of the filter. In my case it was an inline heater that restricted flow (JBL 1902 so 16 mm hose with a 13 mm heater). Takeaway for me was that mixing hose sizes to save money ended up costing me more in the longrun becouse the impeller had visible damage from cavitation. Hope it helps someone out there. Oh and keep up the good work guys!

@@timmyfane9680 Yes, and for that particular reason most quality filters have flow restrictors on intake and outflow. User must set both on the same position. I got this tip from Oase support when I was consulting regarding FiltoSmart 60 flow. This is another great thing about more established brands, support. Thanks to OASE UK wonderful employee Charlotte.

Yes, How to properly clean (to reuse) purigen; yesterday I read that a special chlorine is needed, and that it should not be left to dry. Therefore, I recommend a tutorial on how to properly clean purigen, Thanks!

This was a lot to unpack, but incredibly useful. Thank you. One of the biggest things I struggled with while setting up a fancy oase filter: lily pipe sizes. There are a lot of terms, specifications, and info out there on them. Its just not easy to digest. Being American converting things wasn't awful, it was actually understanding the info. I watched a solid hour of videos before placing an order on a substandard set that worked. Lily pipes might not be an awful video to make. Maybe? Thats all on you. I love your channel. I love videos like this. Thanks for all the effort you put in. Honest.

The Green Aqua filter media configuration isn't the 'conventional' way but after trying it for a few months the results speak for themselves! My water is crystal clear and I don't have to worry about so many layers of different sponges or taking all the media out just to replace the fine filter mesh. Great thinking!

Usually, filters get a little noisier above 1000lph. If this is a humming noise you still can use sound isolating panels in your cabinet. If this is an air noise then with to check tubing etc to make sure no air is leaking

He states that it can remove nitrates , because it can acommodate anaerobic bacteria. Is it actually true? And how does it compare to seachem matrix? Would appreciate a reply! Love your videos! Love the channel guys, I have subscribed! Quick question that I can't find anywhere through, I am in the process of setting up a planted ADA 120p tank (120cm x 50cm x 50cm - 273L) like the ones in your shop (medium amount of plants, not heavy, with just around 15-20 tetra's + clean up crew). I understand you use the Eheim 1200 XL / 2080 for this size however I'd prefer to use the Oase Biomaster filters due to the pre filter functionality which would be easier to maintain than the Eheim. What would you recommend if wanting to use an Oase solution: 1x Oase 850 (would this be enough) or 2x Oase 600? Many thanks in advance!

I do have some of the filters presented. EHEIM Filters can be very silent. I also have an EDEN 501, a cheap filter but works great, and a Aquaclear 20. The classic model of Eheim is difficult to prime, even terrible. I added a double tap to get the maintenance and the suction exercises much easier. I do it using the head of the filter and looking to avoid water gets out. It works pretty good.( I discovered it after a long time of priming session hahaha). Otherwise my Eheim Experience 150 works good too. Thanks for this. Cheers guys! P.D I like your shirt Balazs. ;)

HOB filters some of them have decent space for filter media and and can match the 5x debit rule. The good ones like the Seachem products have the pump inside the aquarium thus low noise.

Thanks to your previous video, I'm using a Oase Biomaster 250 on a 25L tank. It is excellent 👍

Now that's a great example that it works if you set it up correctly. You probably do not need large filter cleaning this year :) One of the advantages if the large filtration.

@@GreenAquaShop I’m a bit confused. Won’t such a powerful filter with 900lts/h create a tsunami inside the aquarium or can you reduce the flow somehow?
@Geethalamila
@Geethalamila 2 жыл бұрын
Hi @Edwin Chua Did you lower the flow by downsizing the tube and lily pipes? If so can you explain how you do that? I have a 7-gallon cube tank and I wanted to try the Biomaster 250.

@@Geethalamila yeah I'm using a reducer 16/22 to 12/16 (connected to an appropriate sized lily pipe)

A magyar felirat nem automatikus, mint a többi, Tamás barátunk készíti, nem kis energiabefektetéssel. Általában sikerül a videó publikálására készen lennie vele, de hosszú távon legfeljebb 24 órával később már fent is van. A türelmedet kérjük. Köszi, hogy nézel minket!

It's nice of you to speak about the noise and to give advice about it, that's a big parameter when choosing a filter, brands to advertise enough on it I think. Thank you for that video, really, I've been waiting for real tips on this and now I've got them! Would you have any tips for really small aquarium? Like for 10l or 20l tops (like shrimps only or betta only)? It's a big commitment (money wise) to buy an external filter for those types of aquariums and it seems over-the-top ("flow wise"), internal filters are taking space which... well, it's small already so it's not ideal, and hang-on filter (honest opinion, I find them ugly) are too noisy for a bedroom for me... So would you know a small external filter that would do the trick? I'm always amazed by your literal bucket of green tea! xD

LOL Fanny, I love that cup. :) Anyway, I would go with an Experience filter, the smallest one, still a bit big for 10 liter, but for a 20 liter it is fine, you can hide it in the cabinet too.

I am watching your videos with great excitement, I find them very useful and educational, I have solved many of my problems in this way, so thank you very much 🙏🙂 Now I have a question for you, I would appreciate it if you would be kind enough to answer it. In my 120*45*45 tank (eheim pro 4+600) there is eheim mech pro and fiber in the bottom basket of my filter, would you recommend using 30 ppm blue sponge instead of mech pro?
@GreenAquaShop
@GreenAquaShop 3 жыл бұрын
No, sponges are really not for bio filtration, the filter should be filled with Eheim Substrate pro.
