Other than the Arai XD-4 is a little heavy, it is the perfect adv / dual sport helmet, IMHO. Great fit, quiet, not too heavy, fantastic ventilation and aerodynamics, plus you can easily wear MX goggles with it. What's not to love? Oh ya. The price....

Thanks for the video John. It’s nice and simple without all the BS. I love my Arai but I was extremely disappointed with how fragile the visor / peak screws were. Just make sure you don’t over tighten them because they break so easily, oh and get a replacement screw set just in case.

Here in Spain it's called Arai Tour x4, I don't know why the model name change. Also I saw bet tacks saying that the xd4 visor is not pinlock ready? Mine is and it came with a pinlock in the box! Good video good review, didn't know you could close the visor with the goggles, that's awesome!

Hi I noticed you pull the helmet on pretty quick. I am a large and got the proper helmet for my measurement. Its brand new and it takes a pretty good queeze to get on. Once on very good snug fit. Comfortable, Did you find it relaxes or loosens after some time?

Very good and honest review. Have you had a chance to try it vs. the AGV AX-8/9? That's my current and I'm whinking to upgrading to this Arai, just because of the extra comfort. One thing you didn't mention was the noise level. Again, from my AGV AX-8 Evo experience, It's not the quietest because of some wind turbulence (the "boomy" sound) it causes from 90 km/h (55 MPH)
@JohnTYoung

I feel like everything you mentioned, my O'Neal Sierra helmet can do as well, except for the movable top part. This one costs about 160 I believe, so why would someone pay 600 extra? Would you compare those two?
@JohnTYoung
@JohnTYoung Жыл бұрын
I sure would if you wanna send me one. As for why would "I" pay the extra- I've crashed in Arias hard enough to crack shells and grind them down to the foam and I'm still here.

Really wanting to try an adventure helmet over a Moto helmet. I just bough a Fly Carbon, it's a great helmet. But I can't figure out my issue with glasses. I've tried contacts, lens inserts etc.... nothing is working. I have a 2023 KTM XCW 300. I've raced Moto for over 30 years but am almost 60 and my eyes are shit. I'm an intermediate to expert rider. Wondering if going with an adventure helmet, other than looking completly dorky, hate the look. But then I could just wear my Oakely prescription sun glasses underneath. Any one out there dealing with this issue?
@JohnTYoung
@JohnTYoung Жыл бұрын
There ought to be someone... I'm sure I've seen riders wear glasses under goggles. When I road raced in the 90's I wore contact lenses and had to remind myself to blink once in a while to keep them moist. I lost quite a few out on the track when they dried out and blew away.

My first ADV helmet and the vision is distorted. Looking through the visor the floor is kinda floating when I turn my head left and right. Both with clear and tinted visor. WTF Arai! Never had that with any other full face Arai helmet. Pretty disappointed ☹️ Great review though!

I noticed the same thing too when I was wearing it in the house. Seemed like all the light sources inside the house hitting the angles of the shield made it worse. Once I chose to keep the helmet and wore it outside while riding, that floating sensation was not noticeable

The visor is centuries old, cheap and flimsy. Compared to an Agv visor it`s China quality and the variety is almost non existent (smoke grey and black visors only, if I remember correctly). Second serious issue (from my perspective) - lack of integrated goggles. I am aware of the fact that Arai does not have this option as a brand, but, still, 2021. It is still a great looking helmet, perfect fit for my headshape too, but its medieval in terms of R&D and innovative solutions. Given the price they charge, its a seriously overrated product. Should this be decently priced (350-400 Euros for standard colours and max 500 for the full graphics) I think it would be an even larger seller. But they dont have the production capacity (claimed) or they prefer to keep it as is - cheap production costs, high revenues. Did I mention anything about the stickers which are milimetres thick and can easily be felt when touching the surface? Had a Suomy in the 90`s that didnt have such thick stickers under the lacquer.
