The song "Sixty White Horses" is an expression of the feelings of the people of the remote regions of Mongolia, it is a sad song that arose from their life, but it is interpreted in several ways by historians and researchers. This song can be connected with the sad story of the massacre of Dzungar Mongols, including men, women and children, who opposed the Manchurian (Qing Dynasty) invasion policy, and the dispersal of surrendered citizens. Also, the majority agree on the version of mourning and lamentation of the minorities who live far away in the borderlands of their country and miss their compatriots. More than when and where the origin of the song originated, the ideas and the sadness it expresses seem to tell one thing about our society today. The song "Sixty White Horses" is a song of the Tuvan people (for this song it's "Kongurei") missing their broken brothers and sisters, (and not only Mongols and Tuvans sing this song, Buryats too) and the song "Sixty White Horses" was sung together by the group "Khosogtyun" and long singer S. Tsogtsaikhan.

Kalmykia. Descendants of Dzungars who fled from the genocide were granted a fief north of the Caucasus by Empress Ekaterina of Russia for conquering the Caucasus.

In Western Mongolia there are ethnics called Zakhchin, Urainkhai, Uuld, Torguud, they are all survivors of this genocide. I am Zakhchin. All those ethnics belonged to Oirat Zuungar Mongolia.

Most of the survivors fled to the west and north. Some of them stayed in Djungaria and still live in modern day Xinjiang province. Life is tough there. Oirads who migrated to the west, suffered greatly from attacks by their Turkic enemies but eventually joined oirad kingdom on Volga river. Oirads who migrated to the north, joined Buryad tribes on the western shore of lake Baikal. Some of my ancestors were the former refugees

I feel your pain, oirat brothers.😓 My ancestors, Telengits, were genocided too because they were part of Dzungar state. Kazakhs, Khalkha, Manchu and southern mongols did it.

i've research what happened to the dzungar.. that's horrible, and the worst is that no one talk about that, in france we have a similar story with vendee, vendean and dzungar are both frogotten (or even denied) genocide, the french republican gouvernment act with the vendean Rebels exactly like the Qing invader with the dzungar, so from france mongols people Will always have my respect

I am sorry for the dzungars, however saying Qing was the invader was not true. Dungar basically attracted everybody around them the Kazah, uyghurs, tibetans, khalkha mongolia, even launched a conquest near Beijing. They had a reason to aggressive, because none of people around them were nice guys. Qing was simply defending itself, however the front line generals lost control.

@@ConquestMappingYT a banger doesn't always mean bad, it's a good thing for a song with such heavy meaning and tragic origins to sound good, so people would be willing to listen to it and understand it's meaning. It's important for history to be remembered, be it through literature or melody, and if said melody sounds good, generations down would remember the song and sings it to their grandchildren. My heart goes for the people of Dzungar who were unrightfully massacred by the Qing Dynasty, may all of them rest in peace.

Nobody talks about them because the genocide was too successful, the Dzungars don't even have any friends surviving now. The Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Khalkha Mongols (modern day Mongolians), were all joining with the Qing empire killing them. Their only "potential" ally was the Mughal empire of India. But they were also getting beaten by the British at the time, so no help was sent

As Kalmyk I would add that humming was not allowed among oirats. Not sure where all those tabus came from. And for example you can’t hug your self I was always told - Эльгн бича теврдҗ. and so on. So maybe it had nothing to do with song itself

As an Uzbek myself, the Dzungar genocide wasn't just a tragedy for the Dzungars, but also for all Central Asia. The Chinese (Qing) didn't hold their promise, later oppressed both the Kazakhs and Uyghurs and imposed their colonial rule there. The Russian invasion of Central Asia was due to the Chinese oppression, and we would not forget it.

@@commie5211Dorvod tribe in Mongolia originally lived in todays Xinjiang region and they’re Oirat Mongols which is why their dialect is very different from Khalkha Mongols .
