I'm glad I'm not the only one out of breath when I ski!

Thanks for recording. I got to relive that path from my winter of 2006 in Abasin. Pretty sure that was the run I did

Awesome job dealing with such a killer run! Love the vid. Skied it back in the early 90's with a small, manageable cornice at the top. The conditions just like yours, maybe a bit less chalky, but I did a hip check just before the choke point and started to sit for a sec, I was so nervous, but skis started sliding out - lost the angle just by sitting on my hip. Fortunately, I popped up, leaned out away from the hill and got my edge back. Noodle legs the rest of the way down. I'd love to go back for a repeat, this time with new skis, well fitting boots, and sharp edges! Thanks for bringing back the memories!

Haha nice. One nice thing about putting a hip down on a steep run is that it's easier to stand back up.

This was sick! Love the wall of jagged rocks on the side makes for a scenic run

Great video! I started breathing hard just listening to the work you were doing. Well done.

Nice job, my man! That choke point is never as bad as it looks from the top and you handled it well. Pretty hard pack day, certainly don't want to fall near the top in those conditions. One of the best chutes ever on a powder day!

Thanks! If I'm lucky, I'll ski it on a pow day sometime this year.

Great video man! That chute looks SO gnarly! I would love to do it for its sick looking view! Skied it great imo despite it soundly a little icey.

When it looks steep on camera you know it's ridiculous.

I remember the first year I got to the Basin, everybody was always going on and on about "East Wall! East Wall!" and when they opened it from the traverse and I skied it and I was like, "OK, that was nice but honestly why does everyone make a big deal about it?" Then they opened the hike to North Pole and I got it 😂

Couple of nice saves in there. We’ll done.

Very nice. I skied A Basin for the first time about a month ago. The East Wall was closed which was to bad since the snow was great. My east coast skills will certainly help me on that upper part since I have been skiing bumps and hard pack all of my life. I plan on returning next year and hopefully the wall will be open. I also plan on going after I have been in Colorada for a week, the thin air is an issue. My friends and I are all well into our 60s but still skiing the trees, bumps and steeps. We also AT. Take care and thanks for sharing your experience, it looked great. Take care.

I learned on icy east cost bumps as well... A Basin Ski patrol does a pretty good job of opening the trails when they can - sometimes the fresh snow hides a lot of rocks just below the surface. The East Wall has the best odds of being open later in the season. Best of luck to you on your trip next year.

I've hit the east wall a few times, it's much much steeper than it looks in this video!

Nice run. Should hone in your pole planting skills.
@allenskis2 ай бұрын
Thanks. I have been working on my pole plants over the last year or two and I am getting a bit better. I still have room to improve, though. I mostly learned my watching other skiers on youtube lol.

Don't worry you won't hurt the rocks

You keep whipping your arms around taking your chest away from the fall line, putting you in the back seat and off the front 1/3 of the skis making it harder on yourself to control speed and link turns.

This was a few years ago... I probably have different technique problems now lol.

@@steven7650 haha yeah it definitely cut down on the amount of times I went to the resorts for a few years. On the plus side, I did pick up backcountry skiing, so my powder technique has improved slightly.

California snow is not so enlightening once you've skied Colorado
@allenskis2 жыл бұрын
I've never been... At least not yet. There are a few ski areas in California that have caught my attention but I think I was looking more at the terrain than the snow. Thanks for watching.
@proverbalizer3 ай бұрын
If this type of terrain was in California it would be open 80% of the season rather than 25% of the season.

You need to stop and look back up and give us perspective after something like that.
@allenskis Жыл бұрын
Haha yea it looks different from different angles to be sure. I'll keep that in mind for future videos.
