EXTREME SKIING Arapahoe Basin EAST WALL!! (2nd Notch & Steep Gullies!)

all time day at A Bay! skiing and snowboarding was extreme today! we hiked the East Wall via north pole to 2nd notch (second notch over on the ridge) and had to free climb down a narrow chute to find the nice skiing below. We shredded more gnar off pallicini aka Palli lift and the Steep Gullies! they are some of the steepest ski terrain in North America and in Colorado! I have skied extreme terrain at Taos, Breckenridge, Crested Butte, J's Hole, Steamboat and other but I think Arapahoe Basin has the best big mountain freeriding terrain! If you like big mountain stay tuned to Nicks colorado channel for trips tp Jackson Holey wyoming, Big sky and bridger bowl Montana! These are steep double black diamond runs for experts only!

Did you wear your helmet on the way up and then ski down without one? Seems a little backwards.

Haha nah I understand the confusion it's because I had the go pro on the helmet mount and was pointing the whole helmet at myself

Gotta say, I really don't see the appeal. I prefer skiing on snow to skiing on rocks, but to each their own. The hike seemed like work without a particularly fun run to make it pay off. The closing commentary about the snow being good doesn't seem to match up with the video. Is Arapahoe always like this? The coverage seemed pretty iffy.

Its always like that because Arapahoe Basin is so high in elevation,and in general,it's a pretty rocky mountain.Also,2nd Notch is a really cool experience.

Yes I agree with burritos the views and experience of the hike and the notch itself are the payoff, having relatively decent snow is just a bonus!

Haha lol can't it be both? This was actually during the few weeks window I accidentally didn't have health insurance, just skied carefully lol

@@Nicks_Colorado_Channel I didn’t have health insurance when I hit some slush and fractured my ribs up on Mt Hood but I was on Medicaid so oh well. I’m not an extreme skier and I probably never will but even after that I never stopped skiing, in fact I became a better skier 🤭🤭😂😂

@@Nicks_Colorado_Channel The only thing that’s actually got in my way of skiing was a narcissistic boyfriend who is history now, meaning he found new supply and off he went. What a relief 😅
