Saw Merle and Bonnie in Mpls. Minn. in 1968 at The Flame. Had a beer with then and watched as he began to write “Once I lived a life of wine and roses” Enormous talent!

Saw him at Billy Bobs about six months before he passed, and it was awesome. The show was a festival, and I got to shake the hand of one of the Steel Drivers after his side stage performance. This was right before he got HUGE. Oddly enough, I was more excited to see Corb Lund at the time than to meet Chris Stapleton.
