The beauty of music is it brings back great memories and some sad ones too, but the good always out weights the bad. Thank you Heavenly Father for Merle's music. Good music for us all and he's on "higher ground" now

I’d highly recommend the Bear Family recordings out of Europe, Germany I think. Tons of unreleased material there. Seems as if they’ve got several other artists, too. I wanna say Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash also have compilations by them.

The same "idiots" who hate on my favorite coach of all time, Michael Krzyzewski(Duke University).....these people are just born to hate! God Bless em! LOL Merle and Coach K don't give a rat's ass what they think, they just focus on the positive and keep on a keepin' on,,,that's why they both were so dang successful and legends! I read somewhere that Coach K was a Hag fan.....pretty surprising for a inner city Chicago boy who loves his MoTown! But, great music is appreciated by those who know what greatness is!

Paul I was driving early that morning doing some out of town work and had a radio station on that were playing Hag's songs because it was his birthday, it was supposed to be one hour....well, I got back in the car about 1pm and they were still playing his songs....after "sing me back home", the d.j. came on and reminded the listeners that he had passed that morning.....OMG.....I cried all the way home, 2 hour drive!

I lived in San Francisco; was one of those dirty hippies while Merle was an okie from, Muskogie. I loved his music then and I still love it today! That's right! Goin' to Califonia Ya Hoo!

And on October 28th, 1978 it reached #1 {for 1 week} on the Canadian RPM Country Singles chart, it replaced Dolly Parton's "Heartbreaker" at #1... Between 1963 and 2015 the Oildale, California native had one hundred records on the Hot Country Singles chart, sixty-eight made the Top 10 with thirty-six reaching #1... I love how Merle always left his band members guessing what song is next, hell he didn't know....he took a long pause and even started another song at first, then switched to a Jimmie Rodgers song....watch his guitarist, he was so sure he knew what he was going to do and even instructed the other guys,,,then Merle switched gears! LOL
