@@matthewsalvador9783 You have to collect a LOT of CPUs and card gold fingers to collect any substantial amount. Dozens minimum, hundreds would be better. Roughly 0.001% of the total weight is gold. The 6.7g they get here is worth about $375. Usually we would send our e-waste to China and they would pay kids to use these acids on our scrap so they can scrape by, but lately China has started refusing all our waste. What we do with it now, who knows. You can't even make minimum wage in the US washing the gold out of this stuff, it's about the equivalent of collecting aluminum cans for a nickel each.

486, 386, Pentium Pro's go for 20 to 90 euro's each here in Europe. Highly sought after by retro games, also the motherboards. Those Altera boards that were daisy chained on the top with cables are data acquisition boards which are still used in older industrial SEM microscopes and medical EEG equipment, worth about 500 euro's each in unknown condition (refurbed up to 1200...). Some would say that it's old ISA crap but these microscopes cost 250 to 350k, the dedicated hardware is still maintained by a lot of specialized companies.

This is a ton of work. But if you have some old dead hard drives lying around, open them up and play with the insides! There are some very strong magnets in there (neodymium) as well as some copper, and the platters are usually coated in something like Platinum (although a very, very thin layer of it). Once you open it you will never be able to use it again, FYI.

@@rizukino well sure, but you want to know the truth? Wealthy people dont like giving non-wealthy people.a chance to get wealthy or even just get a leg up in this world. What I'm saying is, even though all the stuff brought to the dump was being put in the garbage, the owners of the dump didnt want us taking anything... any chance of us getting something free and potentially fixing it to work again they didnt like that idea. imagine expensive items that you otherwise wouldnt be able to afford. But If you fix it, then it's free... Well the bosses actually fired people for doing that. Even though the bosses pay money for the weight of the garbage that they need to bring to another landfill...so anything we took would decrease the weight of their garbage so they would pay less money to get rid of the garbage.. it seems like it's a win win situation..should version fair for everyone. But thats exactly the problem, the wealthy people dont like being fair. They dont like seeing the little man make small wins for himself.

I have realized that I get a cleaner (purer) gold button when melting if I scrape off the dry precipitate from the filter paper and melt the precipitate with a little borax. The fusion of gold with paper provides a button with a more granular pale appearance. You can always save the filter papers with the minuscule amount of gold precipitate left in them and then refine them together later when you have saved some. Good product that you have though!

Thank you very much for the publication of such valuable information (literally) I made the calculations of the value obtained for the change and the price of gold today May 17, 2020 and it would be something like $ 373.86 USD, although the work done to obtain those 6.7 grams of Gold is not too much, I do not think it will be profitable in the long term as a stable business, since a lot of waste should be sought with the same characteristics described here, and due to the variables of each country in terms of disposal of electronic equipment and the implications to work with the necessary chemicals, I think that this type of business would be very, very specific, and personally I would like to do it as a hobby rather than a long-term business .... As I said, very good information, now we know that the cost of the equipment is not for the technology itself, but rather for the materials used, in this case gold, regards!

Almost, all scrap do not sell scrap because they fuck everyone and buy it much cheaper than actual value then they get even more money when they sell by the ton to refinery. And ofcourse they will not give you anything for free.

I had a little look as to what they the second computer was as I've never seen anything like that before, I presumed industrial. I've seen interface boards but not 4 daisy chained together! They seem to be interface boards for a medical company product, the CPUs on first two machines are circa 1994/1995. Nicolet, the medical company, is still going and seems to make neurological analysis equipment etc. I've a couple ancient Pentium CPUs on a shelf, I was going to make an ornament of them, now I realise I need to melt them down and sell the gold to Dwarves.

I sadly remember the difference dx/sx was something like if it had a built in maths co processor? Early x86s used to even have an optional SEPARATE co processor. That would I'd imagine be about 0.0000000000001% of the maths ability of a decent graphics card now :)

Did the math and found out that after all that's involved and the small amount of gold retrieved, the cost would not be worth the effort. Maybe back in 2008-2009 when gold was around $2000 /ounce this process would be worth the effort, but not today at Gold prices today.
@AlexAyoub_
@AlexAyoub_ 5 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I did the math, too, and he is still making around $200 in profit if he is getting high quality (24K) gold out of the ordeal. Frankly, if you are doing this regularly enough and buying bulk in your acids (none of these materials are expensive at all), you could increase profits fairly nicely. Also, $2000 an ounce comes out to be around $70.50 a gram, even at ~$40 a gram today, the returns are not bad.
@berniecruz8405
@berniecruz8405 5 жыл бұрын
@@AlexAyoub_ I don't know how much you earn hourly, but all the work involved just to get out $70 a gram? Bottom line, it comes down to how many hours it takes. Time is money and money takes time. So, for me, if this whole process is not producing $100/hr, then for me at least, this would be a waste of time.

@@berniecruz8405 According to the calculator I just checked he got $263 worth of gold out of that batch. My two questions are, how long did it take and how much did he leave behind? If I could pull down $200+ guaranteed daily with just a few hours of actual labor I'd be all over it. I don't get that kind of guarantee with my real job. I'm certain the process in the video could be streamlined and I'm certain he left gold behind because he didn't crack open any of the ICs, which use gold just like CPUs do. There might have been $300, or more, in gold in those PCs. He also didn't even try to extract copper. It's not worth as much as gold, obviously. But it's much more abundant in a computer. I'd go after every penny I could get if I were to try this.

Archimedes thank you very much for all the knowledge you provide step by step, I have a question. How expensive is buying everything you need to make this happen, all the chemicals and tools and is it possible to buy them in a starter kit ? like a pack , because buying every item looks so complicated and time consuming, I would have to know where to buy, what seller is reliable, what is the best price and how much to buy to get the best deal. It would be great if someone buys big, creates these kits and they can turn a profit too

As far as i can tell ive been digging for awhile there isnt a starter kit there are starter guides with a list of everything needed so far ive noted a small operation start up being around and about $1000 usd for the chemicals and equipment and the most expensive part being the acids 1 of which is almost $300 for a meer 500ml... Which from the guides ive been reading for properly mixing the chemicals your using damn near the entire 500ml which i haven't seen anything stating whether or not the first acid that is filtered with the unwanted metals etc can be reused or not if thats possible will save a lil bit of cash. I buy and sell scrap metal and i get e scrap all the time been looking to see of it would be worth recovering the gold and so far i dont see it being any kind of profitable without buying the chemicals wholesale and investing a hefty sum of cash to get them cheap enough. But if just as a hobby or a 1 time experiment may be worth the experience
@flauwegeit
@flauwegeit Жыл бұрын
@@justinsmith4778 Thank you for taking the time. That's good to know because so far I have enough hobbies that do not pay me as i seem to be interested in many things and then you'd have to buy the equipment the heaters for the finishing product it's a lot. I already decided if I was going to do anything it would be scrapping the gold parts and save them until I have kilo and sell it for the scrap price. In theory there should be gold in all the parts he showed in the videos but you know, In life it seems that somehow everyone is doing something else to to the benefit of everyone else because if we would all be doing the same thing we outcompete each other, cause loss of opportunity leading to fights and most importantly, All the other things and services that need to get done in the world would not get done and we would have no essentials, food, heating, bread. not even cigarettes ! and as it stands everything we need is being produced by someone without anyone or anything having assigned it to them and that in itself is a miraculous thing isn't it. Like all living things growing all by themselves and cells repairing without our involvement. The entire thing organizes itself in order to create a self sustaining harmonious whole. I know the world is harsh but there is love in that somewhere. So that was my excuse for missing out on this opportunity Lol but off course I also wanted to see that nugget in my hand >
