Just bought one of these today. I live in Yuma Arizona. Which is considered the hottest, driest city in the U.S.A and it’s not exactly what I was hoping it would be however it’s not that bad either. It after an hour and a half closer to two hours it dropped the temperature around 7 to 10 degrees, after I soaked the filter in cool water as the directions suggest to do first and I filled the tray with ice and water to the max fill line.

Jason, is there a way to clean the Arctic Air Tower? Our water has a lot of minerals in it and I am afraid it might damage the unit. I do use filtered water to fill it, but still I am concerned.

Here's my personal experience, I'm in the high plains desert, dry and hot in summer,, dry and cold in winter. Yesterday was 101, today 96. My garage was oven hot. I paint and keep all my supplies in there. I set up the Artic Breeze Tower, followed all the directions and saw no real difference(even after 6 hours). Today I filled it with half water half ice. The ice melted within 20 mins. I go out to check the temperature, (I want to paint). Garage is still warm and now it's feeling like the east coast of Virginia, humid. There is also now a puddle in my garage, the tower is spitting at me. I open the front, the top of the filter is full, I drain off the water, reseat the filter and cover. 2 mins later it still keeps filling up and spitting at me. I opened the garage door to the house and put a fan in doorway pointed into the garage. Damn if that doesn't drop the garage temp in about 20 mins. I paid 79.99 for this from Bed Bath and Beyond and it is going back. My ac vent from the laundry room and a big fan are better than this POS.

I bought both of the original artic air models. At the end of the day all that can really be said for them is that they are better than nothing when you don't have air conditioning. One next to your bed at night can help you sleep a bit better when its hot. Thats all that can really be said for it, but thats all it really needs to do.

This thing sucks. I've had the tower for a week and it already stopped rotating back and forth. The water just shoots out the front and covers the carpet in water and it's basically just a messier fan but not as good. Would not recommend to anyone.

my thought is maybe the trick with the little ones is that you put them in the hottest area of the room since its sucking out the hot air. So like by a window, or by a pc, so it sucks up all of that hot air. Ive also seen youre supposed to soak the filter in cold water, and you can also then freeze it, for best use.

So I have the artic air that you have and bought a new one(latest model) and the old one I have works like an actual swamp cooler the filter soaks and it has a switch when I pull the filter out so then it’s just a fan with out water pumping I love it!! I live in Az and it was 100 and it was blowing out at 80. So I bought one of the new ones for 100 and it sucks. There are some differences. First off the original one I have you pull the filter out it turns the pump off and it’s just a stand up fan, this new one the pump runs all the time. 2nd the filter is better on the old one, this new filter sucks it’s way bigger and barley soakes up the water the older model soaks it up like a sponge but on the older model it does have smaller tank. How you can tell the difference is the artic air lights up (better older model) and the new ones(suck) the artic air in the front doesn’t light up…. So idk if the company went cheap or I have some sort of better knock off but the older one I have works better then the one I just bought…..

My friend got one, we live in a pretty dry area. The thing works pretty well, dropping temps down between 7-15 degrees depending on time of day and temperature of water used. Use it in combination with either a ceiling fan or just a floor fan and it gets nice and comfortable pretty quick. That being said, it has a few quirks about it and can be real finicky sometimes. The suggested cold water on the filter doesn't help, started leaking and was spewing water out the front. Turns out for it being new we had to break it in with hot water. Other than that, controls are nice and it does the job.

Air has to leave the room you are cooling. Otherwise you will raise the humidity of that room then it will start to heat up more. Air in, air out for evaporate cooling. Air conditioner is air in the handler then out the unit in a continuous cycle. To make the air cooler each time it works its way through the unit. It "conditions the air"

I’m in a really humid room. I got those DampRid buckets and I hope they work well. So far heard great things. Anyways I’ll just assume my room stays as is, it’s usually about 75-80 degrees in there and humid, I live in Florida smh. I just need something to cool my room. The AC just freezes over every time I ran it long or cold enough to cool my room. I live in an apartment so can’t really get my own ac unit. Fans haven’t helped at all. I have 3 fans running still no bueno. Any product suggestions? Just something to blow right at me and keep up to 6 feet space relatively cold. Like 65-70 degrees will be appreciated.

You have to get a portable air conditioner. It works but struggles in 90 degrees. Ya wrap the exhaust with bubble wrap, put foam core on awkward window and it costs $40 a month. I also use a dehumidifier at night to lower humidity. The Arctic airs will help during the worst of it in combo with these two things. I'm in Florida too and omg the humidity.

I *think* I may have figured this out. (Soooo frustrating that there isn’t a website or phone number to call...). The short blue hose in the water reservoir - that’s the drain. I have concluded that if I don’t fill beyond where that falls when I close the reservoir, I don’t get the leak. I’m guessing that somehow the drain doesn’t always keep up with the pump - hence the overflow from the filter, then out of the front grill. I also have kept the reservoir open just enough so that the short hose doesn’t go in the water. Either way - you want that short hose to not be in the water. I have been watching for about 20 minutes and haven’t had any leaking! Fingers crossed!

That’s unfortunate yours does not work. To empty it, pull out the drawer as much as it will go then pick it up and dump it out in a bath tub or outside or in a sink. That’s the only way I could figure to empty it, which is kinda dumb that you half to pick the unit up and turn it upside down.

Ok, i think ive figured out a fix. I put a small hole in the hose that runs from the pump. It lets water escape inside the tank and doesnt push as much into the reservoir up top. This really shouldnt be something that needs to be done but its no longer spraying water across the room. Start small, like pin holes cause you only have one shot. Too big and it wont put water in the reservoir at all. Good luck. (UPDATE) it didnt work. Lol. Garbage product.
