I have been in a similar situation contemplating a lot if I need a GMK synthwave 170 but I have decided I will not buy any and I am just happy with whatever sets I can afford in this hobby and as obviously I don't make videos to offset the expense I incur. You are pumping a lot of high quality videos just keep going and you will soon have a ton of followers here!

I really really like my Domikey cherry Dolch. I wish I'd ordered the green ones as well before they sold out. :O Akko's quality is great, but they don't have support for split backspace on the Neon and Macaw sets I tried.

I still love GMK keycaps, but more options at lower price points/more value are always great. Been getting annoyed waiting out on a GMK WoB restock so I'm gonna get Domikey WoB instead. Great video !

Did you have any issues with the GMK keycaps snagging on the cherry brand switches (like how you described the snagging on the domikey keycaps)?

I use Ducky SA Horizon for my ikki68 too and for 60 bucks the quality is beyond my expectations for what this offer, the only problem it just supported on standart layouts (full, tkl and 60%) but since the ikki68 supports 2.75u r shift it just chef kiss thoccness, the other colors has 2u shift

So glad I saw this video. I didn't even know Domikey had Cherry profiles now. What's the texture like for the Domikey Cherry? Kinda rough like most Cherry keycaps? I started mainly using Domikey SA and really, really like the smooth feel of it, especially after using it for a while. Switched to Akko ASA to try their profile and material. I like the kitting and the profile but they felt too light and the texture too rough for me.

You bring up a lot of great points on groupbuys. I can see why people do it, but I'd rather just buy a set now with a 5-10% hit of quality when compared to a GMK set. So I'll be buying a domikey miami set

im currently testing gmk mito lasers vs akko macaw keys (on lubed glorious pandas if anybody cares) to try and figure this exact sort of thing out. so far it does seem like you do get something out of the extra spend on the gmks. though not quite sure if it is worth twice as much, or if theyre twice as good is probably a better way of looking at it as the $70 is pretty insignificant to some. the texture is the main difference i can feel right off the bat. the gmk are very, very smooth to the touch. they feel very solid, they just feel high quality immediately. the akko arent bad by any means but there is just the slightest of texture on them. its like rubbing your fingers on a smooth glass desktop with the gmk vs on a cloth mousepad with the akko. it makes the akko feel thinner or less substantial somehow. its sort of hard to put into words, but i can definitely feel a difference with the gmk feeling a good amount better to me. the gmk F notch is also much more pronounced than the akko j notch, which is another point for the gmk in my opinion. they sound just slightly different too, though barely, and thats not much of an issue for me either way as both sound very nice on the switches. the gmk just have a bit more of that thoc i guess? though im nor really sure what that even means to be honest. i think what my ears are hearing is what thoc is supposed to be at least. my opinion is the gmk are worth the extra money. im going to return the akko and keep the gmk, and order the gmk blue samurai drop too cause damn those colors are perfect. but if $140 or so is too much but you can swing the $60ish for the akko they are really good at that price point i think. i actually have the akko blue/red samurai set too, but the SA profile was just weird feeling for me so those going back too. the one area akko is miles ahead though is the packaging and just how many keys you get for the price. you get a nice case with little stems to store the unused caps on and pretty much all the keys youd ever need for most layouts, some of akko sets have multiple color options for a lot of keys too. theyre killing it in their presentation and value per key department really. the gmk packaging made me laugh out loud though, cause i just expected more at that price point. but, the product is good enough that i didnt really care about the packaging at that point.

One question though. Does the Domikey set have the same marks on the backs of keycaps that GMK sets have? BTW: I have that Akko Samurai set and I can say that, in my opinion, it looks much better than the GMK versions (I don't really like their gold keycaps). Best $60 I've spent.

To me thick, tall SA profile, double-shot ABS caps, thick, juicy, symmetrical and nice, are worth the price tag. They provide the unique typing experience, sound, feel, weight, etc. and long-lasting quality. It's a luxury set, however, it is for those who appreciate these kinds of things. To someone who just wants to play FPS with red switches for an hour / a week -- these would be a complete waste of money. For those whom typing is a huge chunk of how working, thinking, interacting and extensive writing in our life goes -- it's a worthy investment. Though they still should be reasonably priced.

Got the Keychron Q1, ordering only the Alphas (Hiragana) and the Modifiers be enough? Extra keycaps would be useless and only add to the total cost.

If you own various layout keyboard, the Domikey is truly like heaven for you. Especially for Alice or ergo layouts that's getting more popular these days, which need small spacebar kits that Domikey already provided with. But still IMO GMK still has the advantage of various colorways from designers, but yep agreed kinda nuts to choose paying hefty money for aftermarket or joining almost-2-years groupbuys. In GMK case, I highly suggest you groupbuy spacebar kits or extra modifier sets like in Domikey because you never know what layout you'll have in the future and by that time there's no way to purchase the missing sets you hadn't bought earlier on. Like now I kinda regret that I only joined base layout, and didn't take spacebar kits for GMK 80082 while nowadays I commonly use Maja (ergo 65%) that needs those extra small spacebar kits.

I buy my cap from aliexpress and most of them from one seller called G-MKY Store.. they meet my needs perfectly and they are priced at what I’m willing to pay I also have a kintec lab set that cost me about 75 euro most expensive set .. Even if money is no object, I'm just not willing to wait months or years for a set of keycaps. I'm not a collector so I just want to buy a set of nice looking set that I can use right away and be done with it. Having said that, I was in luck because I really LOVE the look of Susuwatari and it is currently in stock. I've heard people waited 2 years for this set. I waited less than a day for mine with Amazon same day shipping.

Great video, just one suggestion -- maybe allow for a little more gap between sentences when editing? Sometimes the sentences feel like they're jumping on one another due to the lack of a long enough gap. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Personally really love Milkyway keycaps. On-par with my GMK sets and are much cheaper with only 2-3 month leadtimes.

colors are not under copyright, Novelty instead yes. Since Akko nor even GMK-Y aliexpress shop copy that, they're not clones, and it's very stupid to sustain that. Think about GMK doing Eva01 keycaps without gainax permission, only because the novelty didn't report any original logos, that's almost infringment. So stop going against "clones" it's nonsense
