i honestly really enjoy the wacky comments on my videos. Of course i really appreciate the ones who put that extra bit of effort in and add to the conversation. But there's something so cool to me about having that community where sometimes all they want to do is make someone laugh. funny, mean, heartfelt, sweet all these comments make the comment section into a community.

@@flowstatevideoHey I just want to say thank you. You’ve inspired me in a lot ways and in many aspects of my life. My channel is very small but having this creative outlet has done things for my mental health that I did not know was possible. You interact with your channel’s community in a way no other KZfaqr does and I have a tremendous amount of respect for you shifting through hurtful comments. I hope you know you’ve impacted my life and I hope you never stop reading the comments even if they are quite mentally Ill at times.

Flowstate, thank god you uploaded this video because i really thought i was the only one feeling this way for over a year. Comments these days are getting weirder and weirder. Dude, eapecially in the replies. They argue over the simplest and most useless things to ever exist in the universe not even they creator thought about XD. It feels like im the only one experiencing this absolute stupidity in the comments. Especially the replies. Thanks for sharing this

Keep sticking to what you love! I'm on board with it. I think people just really like a laugh with the comments. But when it comes to the low views i think it's just because your initial growth came from Minecraft and then you drastically changed the thumbnails and style of your videos. I have a feeling people are going to start seeing you as not just the guy who made those Minecraft videos but someone who has actually GOOD advice to offer soon. Personally, your channel has helped me a lot with my day to day and it's only a matter of time before you start being fully recognized for that.

This is one of a couple reasons why I find it more so worth my time to watch channels that cover uncommon, relatable, or sophisticated topics. Little to no brainrot comes from the comments and meaningful conversations are more likely to happen.

i don't mind a silly comment here and there, but i've noticed that comments are kinda monkey see monkey do. if one person makes a funny comment that gets a lot of attention, best believe the majority is going to be that same comment regurgitated over and over. not only that but i've also noticed there's an influx of being unnecessarily mean and overall miserable. maybe projection on their part idk. regardless, stick to what you enjoy! likeminded people will always find you!

To me it depends on the community. I've watched many KZfaqrs long enough to already know what the comment section is going to be like. Negativity in comments is unavoidable to a certain extent and I usually just ignore them. Only when I know that the comments are going to be atrocious on certain communities do I ignore the comment section altogether. I think most people come to KZfaq for content and therefore the comments are not the primary focus of most people which is why generally KZfaq comments aren't the most intricate and well thought out thoughts. Whereas compared to other websites like Reddit or Quora where the primary reason for visiting those sites is communication and sharing intricate information. It all just depends on the person. You have to know what to expect from comments on youtube and if they constantly bug you then just ignore them

You've mentioned that "Why am I scrolling down to see what other people have to say? Because I think that most people to a certain extent would agree that not caring what other people have to say is generally a good thing. You wanna be your own person. It doesn't really matter what these other opinions are," and here is what I personally think: 'How does one know that what they think is correct, and to what extents do they think so, and perhaps why?' By hearing out what other people have to say, I believe there's a chance that it might get the person to think, and in turn possibly get a "possibly generally more correct" opinion. The question of what is "correct," or whether some things (like that so called "correctness") really matter or not are questions that could be asked right here, and everyone in the end can arrive at their own answers. I think if someone manages to point out a "flaw" in our logic or thinking, or an inconsistency, that we may have not previously noticed, we might be able to confront it sooner than if the other person didn't point it out. And even if there's no flaw or inconsistency, hearing what other people have to say can also have some other effects, like perhaps effects on the mood. One might get philosophical, and think about things themselves, and possibly improve in something. Or just have fun if they enjoy listening to other people's opinions and thoughts. Whether it's worth it, matters, and everything else, is up to you to answer. People vary somewhat greatly, in my opinion. I cannot know many things about others.

Usually nonsensical or unrelated comments about a video depend on if an audience is there for the creator or for their content more. If they view you as just another form of entertainment, they treat the comments section as such. Only way to remedy this is to make more personal videos, which is what you’re doing, but it unfortunately takes time for those people to finally leave. One of the most fascinating transformations I’ve seen where a creator turned their core audience around is a KZfaqr by the name CDawgVA. He used to be a growing anime-esc channel, but he started getting fed up with his same-y videos, so he became more of an all things Japan guy. Instead of feeding into the “hot British anime man” fantasy, now he entertains and educates people about cool stuff to do in Japan, as well as how to respect the culture. He shows the good and the bad sides.

To be honest I do understand where you're coming from, my first thought about KZfaq way back then was to become a great KZfaqr at some point and grow to the top with all the other people I used to look up to, kind of like establishing a way to make me an identity, that all changed not to only my life style changing and shifting towards getting a job (Which is now absurdly hard now for some reason, which why is it so hard) but mostly due to a toxic community. I mean if you seen all about Twitter it's all about a terrible community talking all sorts of shit things to make themselves feel better and destroy the world around them, and I used to ask myself like why is this a thing, like why are there so much stuff getting ruined by people around me. I really don't know why this is a thing but making a point about it really sheds some light about it, there is another KZfaqr which was talking about you with this same reasoning with KZfaq making it about the profit and less about the viewer experience. It's really terrible to know that the world around us is evolving to something really terrible, I mean its apparent with the government like it's always has but it''s grown much way more larger now than it has been. Thanks for shining some light on this topic I think people watching this would take some consideration about this.

I too have found myself going to the comments as soon as a video starts, and almost just listening to the video in the background while reading the comments. I think people go to the comments because they want a consensus on the video at hand, kind of like a herd mentality effect, however, it's a flawed way of getting the consensus - only a tiny minority of people like/dislike videos, and an even smaller minority leave a comment.

I got a comment today one of my videos from a person agreeing with what I was saying in that video, and then that same person goes onto a older video of mine and said that "this video is so great and you need to making these videos your new video sucks." that video that he was praising had 24 views and was very low effort, and the one he was insulting has a couple thousand views and I actually think it is good content. I get a vibe that younger people think that younger viewers tend to think that the creator needs to give them exactly what they want. All that just to say that most negative commenters are idiot children lol.

I kinda disagree? While I do prefer more heartfelt thought out comments, some people just want to say something to support the creator or just let them know that theyre engaged, its what friends do to eachother when theyre small. It's not thought provoking or questioning but it's supportive.

Well, I hope this will stand out to you if you're seeing any meaningless comments. I'm sure you're probably aware of this, or maybe you're not. But Minecraft content was on a downfall. It still is, I guess, you could say. However, I think people are starting to get tired of it, or no, I believe people are tired of it. And I've been coming across so many videos lately where people just talk. It's slower, a more humanized pace. And I am pretty sure this was influenced by you. So, thank you, Mr. flowstate.

Personally, I don't automatically go and look at the comment section. I more tend to go to the comment section if I am reading a web novel and something was unclear, to see if it has already been asked and answered or to ask myself. Why the comment section and not google? Because google might spoil something coming up, most fans won't. Why do people repeat a solitary word? I assume it's to feel a part of a group. As I do definitely enjoy deeper discussions. Hopefully constructive criticism: This video a negative take on viewer interaction to your own videos, which almost came off as entitled. The goal or purpose of making this video feels unclear. what did you want to change? How does this video benefit viewer? It seems targeted at a group that would be the least likely to care, that is trolls.
