If we measure intelligence only in relation to our own, we neglect the vast possibility of other ways intelligence can manifest. We always want to teach animals OUR language, discounting the subtleties of their OWN communications. It is clear they have communication, both among themselves, and with humans as well as other marine species, they may have an entirely empathic form of communicating as well. I'm old now, but when I was younger, Dolphins captured my curiosity because they always look like they are smiling. Happy faces was a positive experience for me. Maybe it's one of the reasons why I still admire them.

You've probably seem the mirror test, put a mirror in front of animals to see reactions, they usually fight their reflections, only the dolphin was self aware, you could see the dolphin posing, being self aware of their reflection shows intelligence.

This guy is super mad about how smart dolphins are.

They must be smarter than a fish because you´ll never catch a Dolphin when fishing with a rod and a lure in contrast to fish that takes the bait over and over again. This is of course only one example.

If he is right why is there not a abundance of other scientists and information on this....all the years studying these amazing creatures and this one guy has this opinion. When the Dolphins see this video they are most certainly not gonna save HIM from sharks...hehe

So the argument against was a scientist saying he studied their brain structure and it turns out they dont have what it takes, and the argument pro was basically "i love swimming with dolphins when they look into your eyes you can see they are very intelligent trust me".

Dolphin consciousness is completely different from humans. I have spent many years swimming with wild dolphins and their brains have nothing to do with how ‘intelligent’ they are.

The dolphin is as smart as it needs to be. Why can't humans let it be? In their world we're incapable. So who's smarter? Does it matter so much that dolphins are harassed and held hostage in aquariums?

Brains a far too complex and we have very little knowledge on how they precisely work to judge intelligence on brain size and structure, there are people alive missing large portions and even the entire left or right hemisphere of their brain with only minor deficiencies considering their condition, fully functioning members of society with jobs and families of their own, explain this mystery before studying dolphin intelligence based on brain size and structure

This is an argument that I have had with many people. I mean dolphins have never come up for obvious reasons but animal intelligence is a complex thing. We as humans tend to use ourselves as the benchmark for what intelligence is and how the brain works. This doesn't work. At some point earlier in the video the guy said something about how a big brain doesn't nessisarily corilate with inteligence. He failed to follow that with a smaller brain doesn't nessisarily corilate with a lack of it. In the wild these animals live in (sometimes large) social groups. They engage in complex hunting/foraging behaviors. For orcas, wolves, elephants and other similarly social animals are expected to have a higher level of intelligence at least in relation to other animals. But no, we're going to be a contrarian today. Dolphins are dumber then goldfish. Amazing

Those dratted places like Sea World need to be closed down. The main reason is that awful killing spree at the Cove, Taiji, Japan, where dolphins are captured for these disgusting places, or slaughtered for food....yes, that's right, your tinned oceanwise tuna is in many cases dolphin....do some research.

I think that scientst is a bit jealous of the people who can communicate with these animals and is trying to put doubts in our minds. Feel kinda sorry for him!😔

Dolphins are obviously smart.

We crave to be with them for a reason and it's not because they are beautiful or smart. They carry a peace that the creator gave to them. We should worship YAHWEH for creating such graceful creatures.

This documentary lost me when it took the claims of the "telepathic animal communicator" seriously. Why would any documentary filmmaker doing a program on animal intelligence put such a stupid human being on screen?
