Join Jeremy, his daughters Sydney, Kelsey, Elisa, and his son Jackson as they dive deep into a highly controversial topic in the church: head coverings!
Jeremy reads a tweet that's got him thinking recently (almost all Christian denominations wore head coverings until the 1900s), then dives deep into what it means that most Christians no longer do.
On this episode, we talk about:
0:44 The Tweet that started the whole conversation on head coverings
6:03 A wife's take on when a head covering might be highly convicting and useful
8:31 A third category to take some of the intensity out of the debate
11:14 The symbolic relation between a man responsible for his household, and his protection over the wife
12:44 Helpful for the angels?
15:06 Authority, vulnerability, and the spiritual protection of women
24:11 The barrier created by protection

The translations that use the word "wife" instead of woman (the ESV mainly) is anachronistic. Most translate the word "woman".

Head coverings are still common practice in many Christian Russian/Ukrainian churches in America. Having grown up with head coverings and wearing one after getting baptized (as was the tradition in my church) they made no significance difference that Ive witnessed compared to churches who do not wear them. More just a piece of fabric ladies are used to wearing to church as part of their outfit.

I think tzitzit worn by men would be a symbol of God's instructions being over a man and a reminder to seek holiness. Just what came to mind listening to this.
