Are Israel and Hamas guilty of war crimes? | UpFront

The Israel-Gaza war has been raging for a week, resulting in thousands of casualties in Gaza and Israel.
Israel announced a “total blockade” of Gaza, blocking access to food, electricity, water and fuel. This decision comes after Hamas launched a surprise attack against Israel, killing at least a thousand Israelis.
Many have raised concerns about continuing war crimes, such as the targeting of civilians, taking of hostages and collective punishment.
On UpFront this week, Marc Lamont Hill challenges Hamas senior spokesperson Osama Hamdan and Former Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon.

Bro, yes every single israeli is a settler , it's not their land they are occupiers. It being "legal" doesn't make it right. however, do these settlers deserve to be murdered? No absolutely not but they need to get out of the country. It's Palestine. This is ethical cleansing why are you normalizing it.

Your morals are f**ked, both sides killed are civilians and shouldn't have lost their lives but to trying to justify Palestinians death because thy dint iverthrow hamas is just was disgusting as if I were to justify the isreali life lost by saying they didn't overthrown Netanyahus facist settler colonialist government, also the assertion that isreal doesn't target civilians when the death toll is over 2,000 Palestinians with civilians areas being targeted including houses, hospitals, even designated safe areas , not to mention the walk of return were the idf killed over 100 peaceful Palestinian protestors with snipers including 40 kids . It's an absurd statement. Why not let them into Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, etc. All countries supposedly sympathetic to the Palestinian cause. Israel was just attacked from Gaza, why would they then allow a mass immigration from Gaza. People act like you can filter out every militant from entering the borders. This is why Egypt refuses to open its borders. Think critically.

I am egyptian and I'm telling you that we are against having Palestinians here but not because we dislike them. But because this way Israel wins the war with the dirtiest methods. We fought for Sinai in 1973 and today Israel will technically take a part of it by stealing Gaza and pushing its civilian people to move to Sinai. Please go read about the Nakba, who supported Hamas. And rethink, who will come out with the most benefits here? You brave broadcaster, you can ask the guests who defend Israel's crimes: Why will the civilians in Gaza once again trust the proposal to go to Egypt? A number of areas in Gaza tried this matter more than fifty years ago, when it was just people living in Palestinian areas who endured war crimes and massacres because of Nevin's case and cooperated and rushed to the Gaza area in order to return when the war ended. To confine them to how to meet their needs, it is clear that their cities in which they live were stolen.. This is another displacement plan for the deprivation of their land in which they took refuge, just as they stole their lands in which they lived before, and were licensed for their benefit.

This interviewer should be awarded a noble peace prize. Excellent job standing up and not letting either side avoid and side step. It alarms me most people think this war just started by the hoffiric Hamas attack when infact it began 75yrs ago. Israel have occupied them long enough and it was PROVEN by the most incredible point you made about the safe corridor and the absolute refusal to take in innocent civilians. This is exactly what Israel has always wanted . I do not condone either side killing civilians. I condemn the attack hamas did but until pressure is put on Israel by the international community and they stop their own atrocities on Palestinians unfortunately this will get worse. And I mean for the entire world
