​@@samuelbarker6755 I know Phoenix wants to be a good voice for the community, but when his titles/thumbnails are like "Mojang did THIS and that's" rather than "hey check out this funny bug", I feel like it only feeds into the echo chamber of endlessly criticising Mojang. If you go to Phoenix's channel and scroll through his videos, ones that are actually positive stick out like diamonds in the rough, amongst seas of "Mojang changed piston sounds FOREVER / They actually undid the change HAHAHA" and a smattering of subreddit videos, most of which have a hot minecraft mob in the thumbnail. The strange part is that Phoenix himself doesn't seem to *actually* be that miffed at Mojang in the videos, taking jabs at them for fun at most. But the title being negative alone primes the viewer to spin the content that way, I feel. In this one, he says Mojang are on break to highlight the severity of the big he's experiencing and how it may not get fixed, but some people who were primed to be upset might see the tweet he flashed and go "Pfft, 'well deserved break'? For their lazy work that doesn't even catch bugs like this?" All in all, I faintly hope Phoenix - and by extention, the entire community - chills out at some point.

Actually, this behavior is kind of a replica of it, but this time the items are deleted. Similar behavior can be found by going into 1.12.2 and trying to throw out and pick up items with your inventory open in a specific way.

Refactoring is hard, especially with how big Minecraft code is, broken behaviours are bound to happened. When everyone is complaining about Mojang being lazy because there are so little content being added to the game, that's what they've been doing, cleaning up spaghetti codes from 15 years ago, that's significantly harder to do than adding stuff to the game, especially migrating old stuff to new stuff like when they finally upgraded from Java 8 to Java 17.

Tech debt is a thing. It's easier to break old code than new code.

I think it’s kind of an asshole move on the devs part to release an update, and then instantly take a vacation, without fixing anything. Like don’t get me wrong, they deserve a break, but they shouldn’t just leave the update filled with bugs. At that point, they should’ve just delayed the update by a week or two, instead of letting it sit with really shitty glitches. I wouldn’t be surprised if it hurts peoples opinions on the update. Which sucks because I think 1.21 is really good, aside from a few things.

@@RangerW36 That basically happened back when 1.8 launched. They made sweeping changes under the hood, and launched it in a buggy state with severe performance issues. They made a patch or two and just up and F-ed off for like a year straight, damn near radio silent.

I had a bug once a couple years ago where a clock on an item frame in my base despawned, along with the item frame. I was not happy.

Bugrock moment right there. Once nearly lost all my stuff because my nether portal used the wrong dimensions coordinates and telleported me underground im a wall. Ended up finding out what happened and how to get my stuff back and all was fine again. Ever since i have avoided using my nether portal as much as possible to not risk losing my stuff again.

This is the first time this has happened and it is a result of them rewriting huge portions of the game code under the hood. This is not Mojang developers being stupid, this is Mojang developers completely overhauling how the game works underneath. E.g. components are a HUGE change that broke a lot of things initially (and is still breaking things) because of how massive of a change it is. I experience this exact sort of thing in my own projects because rewriting tons of code to use an entirely new system almost always results in behavioural differences that need to be addressed case by case. Same thing here, these broken behaviours are all likely a direct result of significant overhauling of code under the hood.

@@Hexcede you're wrong, but it's okay. when I wrote "since forever", I of course didn't mean it literally. so to clarify; what I meant was it's been like this since I can remember. and I just tested it in version 1.16.5, 1.12.2, and 1.8.9, and the bug is present in all of those versions too. thank you for wasting my time.
