Right that’s why we can decenter them without a problem. It seems like some women have no choice but to be obsessed with men because men are their only ticket to financial security, self worth etc . So much so to the point where they make fun of women and say they have no privilege because they’re being @bused by men. So they’re admitting that they define privilege by how a man treats you. Yet WERE male centered??! 🤡

Honestly I am a pretty aggressive chick and men seem to ignore this and insist on calling me sweet, "spicy", and cute and I due suspect that it is because I am lighter skinned... This is my opinion. i know if i was darker skinned that I would be seen for exactly what I am. An aggressive go getter.

I take advantage of both🤷🏽♀️ i have a very feminine face so people always assume, so I rarely have to lift a finger if men are around...even men who aren't hetero In my career, i embrace my more "masculine" side of assertiveness, directness, but it's still done in a lady-like way(unless i need to behave otherwise). I agree a lot of the things people call “femininity” actually are feminine advantages/privileges. Notice no one ever equates it with commonly shared parts of womanhood that have no social benefit. No one’s going around pedestalizing me or emulating me for fitting feminine stereotypes like knowing the difference between eggshell, white, cream& ivory OR something slightly annoying like enjoying many different kinds of cuisine in yet never knowing where I want to eat. Anything socially negative or neutral is usually ignored and left out of the conversation
@ExoticalsUnited5 күн бұрын
Right! I thought “femininity” simply means having the female chromosome. Anything in addition to that I consider to actually be a form of privilege or social status

So yeah I think femininity is a privilege and I also am healing my inner child by being more thoughtful/intentional about how I dress. I was neglected emotionally and physically as a kid, so I feel like I missed out being able to flourish to who I really am so I buy and do stuff my inner child would like. Like bratz purses or sometimes (very rarely) I’ll get lunchables or a least let our 4yo have one bc I wasn’t able to get em as a kid lol. I had a male cowork note how I dressed, did my hair and makeup very feminine (which he’ll mention at least weekly) and in particular one time he mentioned the way I articulated my hand was specifically ladylike. Also if I’m coming in or leaving a doorway (if they’re really near) I’ll wait for men to open or hold the door for me which they do, & recently a guy (bm) let the door close on me a tiny bit and he apologized like 5-6 times. 😅😅 On my birthday I changed to a peachy pink skater dress and my son asked if I was a princess(a word I hardly knew was in his vocabulary) I feel like those are little examples where my softness/femininity play a role in how ppl interact w/ me. I also notice ppl are more chatty w/ me and women complement or even catcall me. Which if fun bc if a pretty girl gm or kid complement you it means more LOL😂

I didn't even know femininity was this serious. I guess I live a "Nara" type life....except im 42, so I've just been living. Watching these videos makes me see what the problem is. It all went over my head. My friends aren't Disney princess like me, but I'd consider them feminine. My best friend has been viral for her beauty, but she's corporate. She admires me for and i admire her for her. My friend buys me all the stuff i like for my birthday she doesn't judge me for my interests. She doesn't like the color pink 😅.

Omg I love feminine channels. Ladies from Russia, dark skins girls, light skins, White, mix girls, South American girls (different types). They all have things that I have learned or worked on it. It's easy for me since I understand three languages. I think that in general, feminine women who understand the art of being a woman tend to be often misunderstood especially at work places. I didn't understand why but today if they treat me badly for being more feminine, they make me feel sorry for them because that means they have never been able to enjoy the benefits of being a feminine woman.

Hey, just wanted to say I love your videos. I hope it's okay for me to comment here. I have 3B curly hair that's long but I make sure to moisture it and detangle. I like mixing pink with grey, black, whites clothes. Wearing small earrings. My skin, I'd say it's tan/light brown but I make sure to keep my skin moisturized as well. I've gotten clear braces and been losing weight. One time I went into a restaurant and I just chatted with this man about what I've been studying and working on. He gave me a free drink! I got surprised. I've had a few men open doors for me and gesture like "after you lady". Of course I make sure to say thank you. I always questioned myself if I was considered pretty because I've met some women, different races, who are rude with me or ignore me for no reason despite me being very polite with them and I talk with a soft voice. Men on the other hand, men of different races, especially white men has been so sweet with me and helpful/supportive, at work or when I'm just walking around the city. I'd say I'm working class, I worked a lot and work hard to get my degree, and I plan to keep studying, I want to get into a STEM field. I know I'm not middle class because I don't own a house or have a car, but I am working to achieve these goals. I'll never forget when I straighten my hair, I did it for a job interview but I got shocked how many men came up to me and complimented my hair. Back then I did feel a bit sad because I love my curly hair, I rarely straighten my hair but I did that once because I wanted to get a job (sadly the job interview got postponed, but I came in with my curly hair and I got the job, that was in the past). Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe having either long curly or even straighten hair gave me pretty privilege and I should take advantage of that. I just need to be careful with my hair and make sure it remains healthy. This video makes me think of my past experiences. For now I will keep working to improve my life as well as improve my health. Thank you for this video, it has been eye opening. It's sad how other women at work will be very rude or ignore you for no reason.
