Tons of these cosmetology schools don’t care about naturally textured hair, their goal is to make money. They don’t properly train their students to care for natural hair, nor do they provide products. They just throw the students out on the floor and the client’s don’t realize that. The students that do well with all hair types mainly have a natural gift and school enhances it.

When I braid my hair down, I go down my scalp in areas that itch. If you don't slap it on in globs, it washes out with no issue. Any product, grease or not, that you over apply can cause issues. And nope, it does not clog anything- it's non comedogenic. It also does not make my hair tangle. Been "natural" since birth. If they start complaining or displaying a negative attitude once they see your hair, just leave. When I was growing out my hair, I went to a salon where the hairdresser groaned at the thought of braiding my hair. It wasn't even that short. It was definitely at a good enough middle length. My mistake was staying despite that initial reaction, but I learnt this "if they don't care, they shouldn't be doing it rule" since then. Some just do not like the thought of doing anything that seems to be more work to them, in which case best to leave those ones alone.

@Anne_one15 күн бұрын
It’s not necessary for type 4 for hair. If you’re low porosity ingredients in grease like petroleum and mineral oil is better for you because it allows you to lock in that moisture until wash day. Not everyone’s type 4 hair is suitable. If your hair is high porosity, then you will have a harder time using grease effectively. People should just do what works for their hair instead of condemning or overtly praising things.

@@sherriesteele-petty2998 it defines your natural curl pattern, but it doesn't really "promote" curls or make your hair curl up. Whatever is naturally yours, or what your hair looks like when it's kinda damp, grease will amplify or enhance that. If you use a styler, curl mousse, or curl activator under the grease, then it can help amplify your natural curl pattern even more. You do have to allow time between products though. So whatever you use under grease, give I time to activate and set, then apply the grease. You did great but BLUE MAGIC is a MUST in my house. That's how that child's hair got so beautiful (besides generics).

Generics??👀🤣😂😂

I haven't used blue magic, though I have thick dense low porosity 4a hair. What do you do with it?

You did an exemplary job on her hair! The results were awesome 👍

Absolutely beautiful!! Clearly, the other hair stylists need to go back to school if "no one has ever been able to get her hair THAT straight before." 🤦🏼♀️ Her hair, both coiled AND styled, is so damn pretty.

I don't have afro hair but it's so nice to hear a haridresser saying detangling is their favourite part! I have lots of really fine hair and it tangles so much after washing. I always dread that bit when I go to the hairdressers because I feel like the hairdressers must be so annoyed!

Beautiful...don't have regrets. Great mantra!

I would happily spend the whole day in that chair if I could find someone who did my hair with so much care
@sharonloves19 күн бұрын
If your salon would rather you rush a procedure and put out mediocre results rather than take the time necessary to get the best results, than I think you should find another salon to work at or save up for a booth of your own. Oh, and please give your card to everyone who sits in your chair. That’s how you build clientele.❤❤❤

So so so awesome of you being there for the Job first and foremost. Anyone who would speak down to you for taking too long to do the best job that they hired you for is just money hungry. ❤❤❤ so glad to know there are still people working like you.

What people don't realise is if you use grease of any kind you have to use sulphate shampoos to clarify the hair. If a clarifying shampoo is incorporated they should be just fine.

YOUR ATTITUDE IS THE CORRECT ATTITUDE. GETTING YOUR HAIR DONE IS EXSPENSIVE, AND PEOPLE EXSPECT TO RCV. GOOD SERVICE, AND CARE! PASS THIS ON TO YOUR INSTRUCTORS. MAYBE THEY DON'T WANT CUSTOMERS. PROUD OF YOU❤

I've been with my barber, Clifton Johnson Sr., for 53 years because of his skills and integrity. He has done all the types of styles and hair care through the years, and most of his clients have been with him long term. God bless all skilled people who also have integrity. ❤️💯

I love that you got excited for her hair. That's lovely. I litterally seen other videos that said they typically want you to come with clean hair. (From both white and black stylist)

Her hair was gorgeous before and is gorgeous after! For the longest time I wanted to go to school for hairdressing (beautician? Cosmetology?). After hearing from so many poc actresses especially (because they’re stuck with the hair team that is brought on set) and poc in general that the hairdressers had no idea what to do with their hair so it would just get slicked it into a low pony. It made me want to go to school and take the time to learn about hair care for all hair types. I ended up wanting to go the route of social work with children instead, but I think it’s so great to see people going the route of beauty school are trying more and more to be inclusive with all hair types, so they can make anyone in their chair feel amazing at the end of the visit. 💜

Good for you taking the time. I always have too because I refuse to half-ass the job and I always got criticism for taking the time necessary for a proper job!

You did a great job! You're absolutely correct. Hair health and proper hair care are the keys to help retaining length and good maintenance. I am the same way about proper hair care and healthy scalp and hair. I am a NY and NJ hairstylist of 30+ years.
