What Keith said is important. What value does a new boat add to your life? Your current boat is set up how you like it. You could spend money refitting your current boat that would be more economical. The new boats with the rig so much higher will be a significant loss in performance. Spending more time going from A to B probably isn’t something you want in a new boat.

Glory... LOVE snail mail. It's thoughtful, intentional, takes more effort and something to save. Especially when you use stationary. :)

For the record , in 5 years I have never seen a boat layout that looked more accommodating and favorable to family living than your current Privilege's saloon and room layout.

Glory, you are absolutely correct about receiving and sending "Snail Mail" It is sweet but most of all intentional, I have saved every correspondence, letters, Birthday cards, Fathers Day cards etc. that I have ever received from my children (I am 73). I even have most of the letters my Parents exchanged during WWII. Its all family legacy and priceless. To me anyway.

So cool you linked up with the Wynns again! I started following you after watching the shared video you made with them the first time (the dinghy race.) Companies that don't allow video on their yachts have something they're afraid to show if they can't control it. Bad consumer relations!

Wow! Did not realize how the new HH Gone with the Wynns boat is a Hobbit Boat. But those are the sacrifices for performance. When they are walking around they look so normal and the boat spacious. How tall is Keith? Glory, go sing in squares, cafes, churches w Finn as your guitarist. In an Italian restaurant (US) My old roommate just did some improv Opera. A very rich couple told the waitress, could you ask her to sing some more and I will pay for their dinner. There were 4 of them eating w wine Sing in any empty church. Share that blessed voice! There's something magical about receiving snail mail. Aka postcard or letter. It means the person has taken the time to both think of you and type more than a few words. There is a lot of thought that goes into the process of writing it and sharing wherever they are.. or whatever they are going through. Love it :)

A few spares fender bladders is never a bad idea. Good thing about the bladders is...if you poke a small hole it it, you can pull it out, put a tire patch on it and shove it back in the cover.

When I was a child back in the early 70S that was my teen years talking on cassette tape and mailing it to whom ever was a really cool and big deal things have moved so much thanks to us old folks whom invented it

Written letter is more special/caring than a text or e-mail. It shows more thought and feeling. Plus, everyone loves receiving a letter in the mail.

To answer the question about correspondence - I am old school for sure. Sometimes I hand-write letters and cards. Most of the time; however, I type them (using MS Word (I wish I had an old DOS version of Word Perfect that would work on our computers...)). I love to receive (non-business) hand written and/or typed personal correspondence via snail mail. I still remember as a young child back in the 1960s how my grandmother pitched a fit when first class postage stamps increased in price to five cents. She had three sisters, each living in different cities. So they all wrote to each other every week. She and my grandfather bought stamps by the roll (100 stamps). This was back when long distance telephone calls were expensive (thanks, Ma Bell).

Snail mail is the best. I write hand written letters to a friend for over 25 years old. We even send printed photos to one another with our letters. I love old typewriters and think that’s also a better than email.

Don't fall for it Keith!!! You like what you have, it does everything you need....and newer isn't always better. You've got Zatara all tuned how you like, put blood sweat and tears into her and she's been good to you. I vote that you only trade Zatara in if the kids decide to go do their own thing and a different boat would make running it single handed that much easier as you get older.

Great to see Nikki and Jason!! Privilege makes one of the best cats out there and that one you were on was stunning but at the end of the day Keith is right. At $3.6M on a new boat you are going to spend even more outfitting it the way you want it and that’s going to cost more $ and more of your time. I love your 585 it’s a perfect family world cruising boat it has the best layout but I can also we the appeal of new and shinny as they are stunning!

Being born in 1981 I'm old enough to remember the letters in the mail but now with email, its so more easier but to be honest, snail mail would still work for me. It's a toss up really. Great episode, it's cool you guys are looking ahead to the future with possibly getting a new sailboat, long as that means more videos lol. Your current sailboat though is really cool, it's what got my attention when I came across your channel a few months ago, that and that u guys are all awesome on camera. Glory and Jack touched on an important subject. Email vs snail mail. I have handwritten letters between family members in Scotland and upstate NY that are over 100 years old. Letters between brothers that were fighting in the Civil War. If they had communicated with email in 1817 & 1864, do you think those emails would be readable today? I also have 100+ year old B&W family photos. In the future, will people be able to look at 100 year old jpg's? I still have photos I printed in my darkroom, over 50 years ago but have lost more photos from a crashed hard drive then I care to think about.

I'd like you all to consider something in the 70 foot range. Keep people on the boat year round. It makes the episodes considerably better. I stopped watching the Wynns over a year ago. Love 'em, but they don't have guests. Nobody is THAT entertaining. :P

I grew up on handwritten letters (Army @ 17yo). Then many years with the new stuff and its great, don't get me wrong. How ever i have picked up an old quill style pen. and actual sheets of parchment paper. and let me tell you she is 100% right that it means a whole different thing for a lil effort and a lil waiting for snail mail! Ill only be 38 in Nov so its not even an "Old timer" thing. there simply is value in what she is saying you just don't see it yet.

Gabby is right, there are times when it's easier to roll a card in a typewriter and type something short and sweet which can be done in the time you can turn on your computer, fire up Word or some other word processing program and format it to the size of a 3x5 card. No I'm not a Luddite,, I've owned a home computer since before the term PC was coined, but there are some things that are just better in an analog world. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

Out of everyone that I follow (Wynn's, Sailing LaVagabonde, you guys and Adventures of an Old Sea Dog - Barry Perrins) yours is the one I'd want if I wanted to sail with family or friends. Zatara II may not be new, trendy or fast but she's a proven vessel. If your boat goes on the market, I'll just pray I win the lottery because I want it
