Through his examples, Helio will give guidelines for applying the knowledge you have learned, instead of just passing from one source to another.
After attending many conferences, getting pumped up at them and giving up on the newly learned strategies, Hélio started asking other attendees at the conferences and he found out that most people had the same problem. Committed to finding out why only a few people go to a conference and that conference has a huge impact on them while most fail to consistently implement the lessons, Hélio found the key differences that made that happen. The next conference he attended completely changed his business and he started to share his experience with science-backed and business-proven tips and strategies explained in an interactive and engaging way.
Instead of reading from the PowerPoint and speaking from behind the podium, he gets people on stage, demonstrates his points through dynamic activities and interactions, walks among the audience members, and fire up each and every one of them with his motivational messages and actionable advice. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

This is my one of my favourite talks, ever. The implications of truly understanding what he’s saying is huge. Patience. Progress. Don’t rush it.

Thank you so much Hélio Vogas. This should change my life! I have been addicted to learning without implementing and I think it is time to start implementing!

Totally agree with this video, My way of learning things which I tested through years and works fine for me is like this : 1- Start from the root and the main principles and put a lot of time here, read a lot, research a lot,... It can be frustrating because there is no result here, you can make it more enjoyable by sharing them with others ( helping others is addictive and also one of the best things you can do ) 2_ Start testing and doing those main principles until you comprehend and become a real master of them, this also takes a lot of time and there will be no result here too. So you have to be patient and have strong willpower and motivations 3_ Start doing practical things. You may be a master of the main principles but you probably don't know a practical way of doing and usage of them in the real world, So you should trial/error different things. patience is also a key in this step because you probably fail a lot here. You are probably very tired but you shouldn't become disappointed by the failure and know that failure is just another step in learning 4_ As you become more experienced and gather more practical knowledge now you become a true master who has a strong root and strong practical experience. If you miss any of these two, your knowledge won't be that useful and will misguide you or others. 5_ After getting results and achieve whatever that is, now and only now you can truly teach others how to do it and help them in the way 6_ Now you're in the place that you dream of in the beginning so be careful of what you dream :)

The whole point of learning is not the journey, not the result. There are tons of studies where children in the first grades were graded on their learning process instead of the end result, this has proven that people tend to learn better when they are focusing on the learning aspect, once you understand how to properly learn (because every person learns differently) the end result was just part of the formula. We look at learning as gaining knowledge from books and etc, but learning is a combination of information and cognitive development, reading books will get you smart but you wouldn't know how to use that data unless you practice.

The title made be believe this would be more of an intellectual discussion about the nature of addiction (brain wiring, etc,) and how it applies to the constant desire to acquire additional knowledge for no other reason than just knowing more. The title probably should be 'How Better To Succeed In Sales or Business'.

I feel the same it’s so tough to want to acquire so much new information. We should become accountability partners and limit our knowledge addiction.

learning is not 'acquiring information'...'results' in business and how much money one makes is a criterian of accumulators and consumers who have not learned not to be greedy...

Depends on what the person is learning. If one wants certain results, acquiring that result shows that the learning was effective. Of course, business is just one thing...it is applicable to health, relationships, spirituality, etc. It all depends on your goal with the matter being studied.

You can become absolutely obsessed with learning especially tedx talks ,podcasts ,ebooks KZfaq tutorials especially self help and addiction topics or whatever your interests are but sometimes you get all this information 24/7 and never actually use it because you can't freaking stop...you don't realize you have a problem because you say I'm lonely so I learn all day but it's really compulsive and so habitual you are glued literally but in return you feel lonelier and more depressed than ever but your addiction is justified because it's research at least you're getting smarter consuming great content....this is as bad an damaging as any addiction ...please do yourself a favor and get your brain back ..bring balance healthy balance back into your life ! You will start automatically doing other things start tapering cut it in half or cold turkey it's there if you really need it .. test yourself..try! Step ..

Haven't watched a Ted for years, and still won't after the board showed its colors and continues to ban, at its discretion, subject matters that actually make you think for yourself. Why delve into subjects that make you think Ted asks? Well we'll decide for you what you should see.
