In this talk, Tigran Sloyan describes an incredible educational experiment conducted in 1970-80s and his own journey to discovering how learning can be addictive. He goes on to explain how research in neuroscience, physiology and game design in the past few decades have paved the way for designing fundamentally different learning experiences.
Tigran is the co-founder/CEO of CodeFights, a technology company on a mission to discover, develop and promote tech talent all over the world. Since its launch in September of 2014, CodeFights has attracted $12.5M in investments from some of the most prominent Silicon Valley investors and over a million engineers from more than 200 countries becoming one of the largest developer communities in the world. As a school student, Tigran represented Armenia in multiple international math competitions winning 4 medals and several other top tier awards in math. Tigran has Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from MIT and previous experience working at Google and Oracle. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Dad made learning fun! We can’t just force kids to learn unless they have love and warmth.

To sum up, He has a methodology called "the dopamine loop" and "the 10000 hours practicing" to make learning fun: Create a challenge -> Practice it -> Achieve it. But I wonder how about losing? He didn't mention about it.

Khánh Lê I see it as if you loose , try again seek help and practice again until you win. After all you got 10000 hours , you can't be winning every hour.

Good question. Losing makes u actually more determined to try harder next time and win :D

so basically, achievement fuels interest. a major departure from the saying " passion/interest fuels achievement "

How do you achieve without interest to do so?unless u are told to achieve something you didn’t know you would love achieving

@@ma.2733 Yes, that is tough, I haven't been able to do it once in my whole life. Only ever, when I have been between a rock and a hard place, is when I have achieved something. Whenever, there's been a lack of external stimulus, I have found myself hibernating.

the gamification of learning works great for me! I use apps like duolingo to learn Japanese (slowly, but successfully, after several ineffective attempts with other methods) and a bunch of coding apps like mimo to teach myself the basics of html and python (it’s obviously a starting point). Having a lot of fun. It does get a bit addictive lol

Definitely an underrated video. But I have a question. It was used for one particular subject. What about developing skills on multiple subjects? For example, If I wanted to develop my science subjects ( Math, Physics, Chem, Biology) how should I practice?

and how about if we still lose eventhough we already do anything to the max? we still lose anyway, even after correcting ourselves. what should we do? quit being competitive?

Take a less ambitious objective. not all mountains are meant to be scaled by everyone. The goal and inert skills should be in harmony.

I know it's easier said than done but you just have to keep trying just think about it that there's got to be something else you can do something else you can try or something that's hindering your efforts or limiting you. I'm sure you can figure it out . Remember it's not worth it if there's no competition and that's what makes achieving something much more sweeter. Good luck man 👍
