I'm sure everyone at the gym gets annoyed with me as I make an audible whooshing sucking noise when I take my bracing breaths. It just helps me to take a full breath. It's not particularly loud. Hope it doesn't bother folks too much.

I like the details. In the squat inhale into your stomach, and make yourself "fat," pushing your stomach out against the belt. In the bench, take that last "gasp" through your nose into your chest. Keep posting!

I think the difference is only that: With squat, you take a big deeeep breath, and push your stomach out while flexing your abs With bench, you do the same thing, but don't push your stomach out. (edit: You dont push your stomach out, as much)

@@GameTimeWhy On both you take a deep breath. A deep belly breath. In the squat you then push that pressure through your entire core. In the bench, your direct that pressure a little bit more towards your solar plexus. They are 95% the exact same. You technically have to brace your core different when doing a back squat and a front squat. But the general idea in both is to keep your mid section stiff, and allow force to transfer through the body. If you push the breath just into your chest then you dont get a quality breath. Oxygen and full pressure in the lungs is what you want.

@@duskyracer8800 they aren't the same though. You even describe them differently. It isn't 95% different. They are completely different breathing forms. It's like saying all meditations are almost the same because it has similar bases for them.

Powerlifting and bodybuilding aren't the same. If you're a powerlifter you use optimal form to lift heaviest. That doesn't translate perfectly to hypertrophy. When training for hypertrophy you want to use the least amount of weight for biggest stimulus. So even though this form might help you lift couple pounds more, it won't be better for building muscle.
