Not really. I use common sense. Like heating. Holding for x amount of time. I could not get that to make sense. It, to me, took up time creating waisted time. Your explanation on lower molecular weight hylauranic acid helped so much. I can get it to work on my skin... Plus now add it to lotions/creams. Thanks Marie. You are a true great find. I do need help with bubbling shower gel. And pls remember, ppl do not gift products to me. So making them hard to find sometimes. Have great day.

Hi, I have been making lotion for only a short time now and I am having a hard time trying to figure out why my lotion leaves a white “cast” on my skin and it takes forever for it to soak into the skin and disappear.. What is causing this and any thoughts on how I can rectify it. I just found ur channel and it’s awesome! There’s so much information and I’m super excited to start binge watching! Lol Thank you! 💝

@@kajbathandbodyllc4318 it is called the soaping effect. It is often a result of the type or amount of emulsifier you are using. Some (most) contain surfactants that can cause that white cast as you rub the lotion or cream into the skin. There are lots of articles out there on how to fix or change this characteristic in your products.

Ive wondered about an immersion blender being necessary but never could find scientific or detailed reasons why. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the matter. Ive never believed in heat and hold. The reasons ive seen others give for doing it, just never seemed to make sense to me scientifically. My boyfriend is a mechanical engineer, he has several degrees and took loads of math and science classes. So when i came across what seemed like the 100th post about heating and holding, i asked him. He confirmed, i was correct, that its not really necessary. And now you have confirmed that too, i feel a little more confident in my own knowledge paired with common sense

Bubbles are from blending in air as you mix; take care to keep the blender submerged completely and try to stop blending and switch to gentle stirring before the mixture gets too thick. Happy making!

Hi! The concern usually brought up in regard PEGs is the potential contamination with 1,4-dioxane. 1,4-dioxane is NOT an ingredient in PEGs. Think of it a bit like M. bovis (a bacterial species of the M. tuberculosis complex); this is not an ingredient in milk, it's a potential contaminant, and steps are taken to reduce that contaminant, which is why we generally do not worry about contracting tuberculosis from milk anymore. 1,4-dioxane a well-known potential contaminant, and the industry works hard to reduce that contamination as much as possible. This is true for a lot of ingredients, and is one reason why the grade of an ingredient is important. For example, the allowable concentrations for mercury and lead in iron oxides is much lower in cosmetic grade iron oxides than in industrial grade. There's more information here (www.cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredients/14-dioxane/) that includes discussion on concentration and dosage-something a lot of websites don't discuss, which is crazy when dose is critically important when determining whether or not an ingredient is unsafe. The European Commission Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety concluded "1,4-dioxane amounts in cosmetic products are considered safe for consumers at trace levels of ≤10 ppm". The Glyceryl Stearate (and) PEG-100 Stearate sold by Lotion Crafter is declared to comply with this-and on top of that, you wouldn't be applying that ingredient directly to the skin, so anything you'd actually encounter would be even less concentrated. In short, I am not worried about PEGs :) I'm not terribly worried about amines or alcohols, either. "Alcohols" is a much larger category of ingredients than is usually represented in content telling people to avoid it. Amines are usually used at very low concentrations.
