2-3% of stearic acid will keep any kind of butter from melting. I use it at 3% and never looked back. If you are using cocoa butter or kokum butter you only need about 2% unless you want super firm body butter (like a treatment butter).

Watching this was perfect timing for me. I have a creamy body oil that I formulated and used Lipidthix to thicken the oils. A bit pricey, but the end result was perfect. I always have stearic acid on hand and it's more bang for my buck compared to Lipidthix. I tried it with my formulation and it turned out just as perfect. Once again, thank you for the extremely helpful information 👍

I would like to take an existing whipped body butter recipe and add Stearic Acid & Cetyl Alcohol to it to help keep it from melting as easily in the Texas heat. The recipe is about 44% butters (22% shea, 8% cocoa & 14% mango); 45% oils (8% jojoba, 22% coconut, 14% grapeseed & a squeeze of vitamin E); 8% arrowroot powder; 3% fragrance (assuming you count arrowroot & fragrance -I'm a newbie so I'm not sure). Should I use 2% or 3% (or more) of stearic acid? What about cetyl alcohol? Anyone know?
