Whats going on MQB Crew?! I have been getting lots of questions recently about maintenance and reliability of VW/Audi. This is a common concern so I thought It would be a great topic for today's video.

I have to 1000% agree with "Stay on top of your maintenance on your car". I have had so many cars, and just sticking with the manufacture's maintenance schedule has worked in all makes and models I have owned. Yes there are recalls, but none of them have left me on the side of the road. A flat tire or a fender bender is the only thing that has ever left me on the side of the road. Just pony up and pay for the maintenance when it's time. Take care of your car and it will take car of you. Also if you drive it like you stole it, then you will see issues.

My family had a few Volkswagen\Audi's in the past, I have owned 2 of them and I can honestly say that the reliability of these cars are very unpredictable. They can be either really great or at the same time very troublesome. I really wanted to prove that with proper care they can be reliable cars. But my time with my 2015 Golf has taught me otherwise. I cannot be a better owner to my car and for some reason it allways seems to have some weird issue.

@@savagepandaprojects True. I have no idea what's going on with my Golf because I had it since it was new and with a ton of money in maintenance she seems to be needing a new engine? Anyways, I had an old B5 Passat and I blame all the troubles of that car on the previous owner. All the problems it had were predictable and had a solution. But It was so horribly maintained that the costs of rapairs exceeded the value of the car so I had to get rid of it. But if it wasn't for that I probably would have kept it for few more years.

It's a great looking car. The car is so easy to make power😜. But as you said must keep up with maintenance. There are things with the motor that can be better (like what Lexus did to help clean carbon build up) but the car will get carbon build up and I have seen people put more power and get blow by as well as alot of oil burn. But all cars have there things, all! No such thing as perfect lol. It's a overall great car.👍🏻

I think what people want is a car the requires the maintenance of a toyota/honda with the performance of an audi S / bmw m / amg benz. Which is just not possible. Yes this audi S or golf r has some additional maintenance requirements but it's a performance car and have to "pay to play"
@savagepandaprojects
@savagepandaprojects 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think there is always some give and take with these cars. Always going to be some additional costs. For European cars I feel like this particular platform is good overall as far as reliability. Ultimately it really depends on how the car is driven and maintained.

@@IAmLeutrimTopalli Agreed. Pretty sure glass is glass and same tires on most cars. So basically water pump on a car with 48,000 miles where the last owner didn’t replace. You’d think the engine blew and is sitting on the side of the road.

I have owned 3 audis and 1 q5 currently with an Acura rdx . Audis are beautiful cars but reliability is not one of those things these cars have . When we do road trips we take the Acura and we leave the Audi for other things . Again beautiful fast cars tho .

It's really not that Audi is unreliable I just went from a Ford mustang to a Audi A3 and I can tell you that German don't like being neglected if you're on your maintenance and it's going to be plenty more money than a america car but oil , dsg service and whatever else needs to be done do it or prepare for a breakdown
@Hboogie182
@Hboogie182 4 жыл бұрын
You can beat the crap out of a Toyota, neglect it, and it will still be reliable. If you beat up a German car it will leave you stranded. That's the difference between Japanese and German engineering.
@savagepandaprojects
@savagepandaprojects 4 жыл бұрын
Eh I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. Toyota's are fine and dandy but in many cases the engineering of German cars is just far superior. Why do you think Toyota partnered with BMW for the Supra?
@MsDejavue
@MsDejavue 2 жыл бұрын
@@savagepandaprojects bmw is the worst of reliability 😆 you think people who bought the supra, bought it for reliability? When people buy sports car, it's almost the least thing they worry about. Toyota cars can be neglected without your service done in a timely interval and it'll run like a champ, whereas the mqb platform have to follow those interval or else it'll lead to more serious problems.

@@MsDejavue so, essentially, Audis and other German engineered cars are for people who care about their car and take good care of it and Toyotas are for people who trash the things they own... How exactly does that mean German engineering is bad?
@MsDejavue
@MsDejavue Жыл бұрын
@@herbhigher1668 it's not that german engineering is bad, it's their reliability, aren't as good as Toyota. As for performance and luxury, no doubt they have that. That's why rich people go hand to hand with German cars, it's because they can afford the maintenance, which plays a big role in keeping their cars running properly. Toyota on the other hand lack performance and luxury, but will run forever before any major service.

@@MsDejavue I get what you're saying but I've always been of the belief that, overall, every car is fairly comparably reliable and that it mostly depends on the owner/driver. As an example, newer model Subaru WRXs are "known for rod knock" and similar issues with the bearings in the engine. In reality, this is because the most common owner of newer WRXs are late high school, early college age kids with rich parents who beat the hell out of the engine, redline it all the time and otherwise abuse the car. The same can be said for most reports of "issues" with most cars. It comes down to the owner and not so much the car.

Just had an engine stall today at a busy roundabout in Audi a3 2020 UK! Only 5k miles and car went dead in traffic. Gladly it's still in warranty, so taking it back and hopefully getting something more reliable and efficient. Lesson learnt, never buy a German car, they are unreliable garbage, but I wouldn't believe it till I experienced it today, It was showing dashboard warnings about indicator lights failing and now the engine just went dead completely and wouldn't move. Newish car considering it's late 2020 S-Line and low mileage plus service history, but what a pathetic joke of a car. Audi and German cars are just awful crap!

Yeah if say generally when we'll maintained they are reliable. Of course repairs are more costly than your standard economy vehicles but consistent with what most would expect for German cars such as Audi, VW, BMW etc 👍
